Point of Existence II, for Battlefield 2. It was heavenly.

What else? Oh, I suppose City 7 for Half Life 2 offered some brilliantly cheesy voice-acting.

'nother Morrowind mention. I could spend hours trawling t'internet looking for mods. I think for simple practicality, better bodies deserves a lot of points. Simply improved the body textures and meshes by above 30,000 times and was the basis for nearly every clothing/armour mod that followed..

I love that donkeys line. That review post had me laughing so hard!
There ARE a ton of HL2 mods on this post though.
My personal favorites are the Flashlight mods in their various forms, and any mod for TES that lets me use or make exploding arrows. For some reason, I F! love magical arrows.

i have never used a mod. Im too scared they will somehow break my game.
You are missing out on ALOT of fun! Seriously one ofthe main reason the PC > everything else is because of the mods.

I guess the mod i played the most over time was Counter-Strike.

Honourable mentions to Day of Defeat and all the good mods for X3 and Oblvion which make those games pretty good!

For bf2: Point of Existence 2 and Forgotten Hope 2 are a mustplay.

For hl2: Minerva , all episodes. There are alot of crappy singlemap mods for this out, alot of the full conversions have few players actually playing or are plagued by lag/bugs. I played sourceforts for a while but I just can't stand the retail hl2 weapons anymore. If somebody knows proper well played hl2 mp mods with actual fresh weapons please let me know.

For bf:vietnam: Point of Existence 1 obviously.

For bf1942: Desert Combat, had alot of fun with it. I never really got into fh1 much since only the hardcore players played it when I found out about it. The ones that scream noob at every question and teamkill you with a satchel for entering "their tiger", you know the kind.

For Stalker: I used a mixup of alot of different mods so can't really point out what I used. I suggest using the weapontweak minimod files, combined with some minor mods that enable repair at shops, a realistic wear on armor mod and some mods that fix the constant bandit spawns ( these were a pain and a terrible game element imo )

Diablo II+lod: minimod giving a little extra room inventory/chestsize wise, plays alot more fun imo.

HL1: brainbread. Great zombie mod, still servers playing this so if you're bored I suggest you try it.

COD: united offensive: there are some servers playing a mod with more kinds of tanks, new maps, halftracks, AT-guns, etc. Only played this mod a few times but the experience was terrific, don't know the name though.

The only: Rome Total Realism, a mod for Rome Total War.
It completely changes the whole game, with new skins, units and map.
And you don't have to put up with psychedelic colours for the factions like in the origional.

first that comes to mind....

Sven Coop. I still play it at LANs. There's so many map packs for it and so many crazy things it does with the original Half-Life engine. It's also still fun, easy, and quick to make map packs for.

I'll post more, Half-Life and non-Half-Life related mods later, when i've had more sleep.

Crate mod for Quake 3, never actually got to play it but the concept sounds hilarious!

Garrys mod is cool, especially the zombie survival game. So fun and probably the best online zombie game there is until Left 4 Dead comes out.

Thread necromancy. Yeah, I know.

But, after playing through Half Life 2 for the umpteenth time I'm looking for something new, something exiting, something to spice up our relationship.

Wait...what?

I'm looking for a good singleplayer mod for Half Life 2.
Not Garry's Mod
Not Zombie Panic sorce
Not Insurgancy mod.
Singleplayer.

I tried downloading Secret Weapons mods, but it all saved to my desktop and it was in a foreign language and it didn't work.

Halogen for Command and Conquer.
Oh wait, that got foxed a few months before release...

I guess Skulltag. While more of a source-port than a mod, the latest version makes Classic doom 345.6% more awesome.

I enjoyed quite a few Doom 3 mods, such as the little known Retard Mod. It turns the BFG 9000 into a Shoop-da-Woop gun, makes the Soul Cube look like Soul Edge from the Soul series, and, best of all, gives you the ability to mount the flashlight on any weapons. This and much, much more.
