I think we all have at least one. Personaly for me it is this scene from the Matrix Reloaded:

Say what you like about the movie as a whole but that fight scene is epic. Very well peformed by everyone involved and it is nice to see an action scene where the camara stays still for more than 2 seconds so you can actualy see what is going on.

Not the Burly Brawl? Surprising.

Really liked the first person shots.

For games, probably Rikku & Sora vs. Xemnas at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2.

I dunno if it's my all-time favorite or anything, but with Kingsman: The Secret Service releasing this weekend -- at least stateside -- I have to mention the church scene. Just ... wow.

It's the one that comes to mind right now.

Kill Bill Volume 1: The Bride vs O-Ren Ishii.
Short, sweet, simple, and to the point The Bride comes in, there's some bad-ass banter between the two, and the fight begins. No giant kicks, or flips, or any of that, just a tense fight between two expert sword-fighters. Throughout the fight, from before the fight, even, you get the sense that though they dislike each other, they still respect each other, and even fear each other. All of this is accompanied by Santa Esmeralda's version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and it's seriously half of why this fight is so good. The music hits all the right notes at all the right moments, from O-Ren entering the fight, to the first swings, to the end. It's just all around a fantastic fight.

Yet I can't enjoy a single frame of it, because I'm constantly wondering why Neo is even fighting at all and not turning the floor into lava or just jumping into these guys like he did with Smith in the first movie. He's supposed to be a god, yet all he does is fly around and on occasion use a bit of telekinesis.

OT:

This entire sequence from The Raid 2 was one of the best things I've seen in probably a decade. And I thought it'd be hard to top the Mad Dog fight from The Raid 1 but this was pretty darn close.

It's a series of 2 fights back to back.

Warning : Some parts in the clip are greyed out for some reason, but honestly, if you haven't watched the movies, I'd recommend you do so anyway without any hesitation.

Yo' no Metal Gear Rising?

Nanomachines, son.

That final boss fight was totally awesome, it has like 5 stages to it. Between this and Bayonetta, Platinum Games have proven to be fucking gods at the art of a good boss fight.

I guess i'll add the fight with the Monster Lord from Monster Girl Quest too, yeah it's hard(ish) and if you'd paid attention to the brief comedy scene way earlier where you play as her for a second, you know how crazy good her stats are but still, Luka's at full power at that point so he can handle pretty much anything. It's more about the undertones of the fight which i'd argue makes any flashy all style but no substance fight scene pale in comparison every time. The Star Wars fights between Luke and Vader vs the lightsabre spamming fights in the prequels are a really good example, even though i'm not super into Star Wars I can appreciate the storytelling there.

Alice please, he's never going to kill you, you stupid girl. Anyone who did either somehow missed the point of the fight massively or just wanted to see the alternate ending then reload the save. Though the real ending that continues the plot onto Chapter 3 instead of it coming to an end at the finale of Chapter 2 could be interpreted as the alternate ending? I can kind of see some people missing it if they really, really, really drop the ball. It comes with the game being a parody of JRPGs in general I suppose, it's really quite clever.

[sub][sub]I also nominate Succubus Witch as best boss excluding Alice and I don't think it needs any further explanation...[/sub][/sub]

I was about to roll my eyes when you showed the Matrix, and I am ashamed of myself because you mentioned the one scene I can agree with you on, it is like hollywood let an asian cinema director have a go for one scene. So much better than the rest of the fight scenes.

I love choreography and often do demonstrations in the UK at steampunk events (part of a Bartitsu group) and sadly because of this most fight scenes now make me cringe.

Well I take your matrix scene and I raise you a movie, a relatively unheard of movie. I advise EVERYONE to look up a movie called Bunraku, very few people I know had ever heard of it but a lot of the fight choreography is masterful, the cast is surprisingly good and they know how fighting works. This is the only movie to make a "western brawler" character work well and stand his own convincingly along side a cast of badass fighters from a lot of the more exotic styles.

Movies: Rocky vs Drago
"He's cut and it's a bad cut!" That whole fight just makes me smile.
The crowd turning on their own country's hero to cheer Rocky...glorious. Far from the best choreographed fight scene out there but it's the one that instantly came to mind upon reading this thread. I can't actually think of a best 'real' fight scene in the movie...I assume it could go to Jackie Chan but which movie and which fight I couldn't remember.

Edit: Troy: Achilles vs Hector
LOVE this fight! It's not perfect mind you...comes across as a dance routine at times but I love how it showcases shield fighting with spears and really makes you FEEL the impact of many of these strikes. Great stuff!

Gaming: Thrall and Grom Hellscream vs Mannoroth - Warcraft 3
A great finale to an awesome orc campaign. The fight itself is short and simple but I really don't mind that.

Tv: Street Fighter Anime Movie: Chun Li vs Vega
This fight is a near perfect portrayal of what you envision these characters as from the game. It's exciting, tense, unpredictable and yet true to the source material.

How the hell did I forget about Kill Bill? I blame my dog (not that she did anything I simply always blame her when I forget something).

That did bother me for most of the movie but this fight scene was just too good for me to care. I guess you could look at it as Neo chooses to fight hand to hand simply because it is more fun that way?

Probably Jackie Chan just not giving a flying fuck in Drunken Master 2, because I swear to god:

With runner-ups being Ip Man for just being pure classical kung-fu amazingness:

And Cowboy Bebop for having the best hand-to-hand fights in the history of anime, and for choreographing that shit on jazz to boot. Notably:

and

But that's just the movie even, not to mention the actual show.

That was crazy-well choreographed, contrived reason for it existing be damned. Definitely my favourite gun-focused fight scenes (and movies) I've seen in a while.

I'll second the vote for the final fight scene in Raid 2. I remember seeing it in the theaters and just being on the edge of my seat the whole fight.

The final fight in Ong Bak 2 was awesome, and covered tons of different weapons, martial arts, and acrobatics (it's in 2 parts):

The final fight scene from "The Man from Nowhere" was just brutally awesome and incredibly well choreographed:

And finally, I'll also throw in a shooting fight as well, the night club assault in 'John Wick" was just straight up phenomenal:

In movies, my favourite brawl is actually a rather recent one, from Skyfall. Fight starts at 1:48.

I think that the cinematography and the use of contrast and shadow is absolutely gorgeous.

In online shows, pretty much anything from the later seasons of Red vs. Blue
