My favorite movie that I've seen in theaters this summer was District 9 [close call between that and G.I. Joe]

As for older movies, Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Mel Brooks is a genious

Action: Pulp Fiction [also a great comedy]
Horror: Saw [also a great comedy]
Musical: REPO: The Genetic Opera [because Sarah Brightman is a Goddess made flesh]
Foreign: Pan's Laberinth
J-Horror: Audition [the entire movie is like the musical ques from The Dark Knight. You know, when Joker is about to do something messed up, the music slowly rises into a cresendo? That is Audition]

V for Vendetta is my favourite favourite and then moulin rouge. Just rekindled my love for studio ghibli (howls flying castle) and there are many more.
I love V for Vendetta because of this
"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."
