Anything about the Norse. Its the most violent awesome mythology I've read.
Agreed

I find it so much easier to relate the the Norse gods than to any others. They just seem more human or something...

Norse mythology is the strangest, most entertaining mythos that I've ever read.

The Illiad, why? Diomedes. My personal favorite hero of any myth: He kills countless Trojans on the front lines after getting his shoulder ripped by an arrow, slashes Aphrodite's wrist making her run away, and spears Ares through the gut making him cry and run away... and Diomedes is mortal; pure awesome.

So many great ones.. The first one that comes to mind is when Thor is in Udgaard and is challanged by the king of the "demons" to test his strength by lifting the kings cat. Thor agrees, but doesn't know that the cat is the worm of midgaard (the one that circles all around the worlds) disguised as a cat. Thor lifts all he can, but the cat doesn't move until the end where it lifts one foot. The demons knowing that the cat is the worm of midgaard are all terrified that he managed to lift one leg, but manages to hide it, disheartening Thor about his lack of strength.

Norse,
only the vikings could get away with believing that the first gods (or giants or something, I don't remember) were created from the sweat of a man created out of melting snow.

Battle of Thermopylae
That.. wasn't a myth. >.> And it wasn't 300 Spartans, it was more like.. 300 Spartans and 2100 Helots.
I'm kinda bad with remembering stuff from classes i've had, Helots were what Spartans called their slaves/lower class, right?

and I'm a fan of The Iliad myself.
Yeah. The Helots were a group of people the Spartans conquered when they invaded Sparta, and put them into slavery. Fun times! :D

Gilgamesh.
gilgamesh wasn't a myth, he was the first King of ancient Sumeria.
(or do you mean the story, the epic of Gilgamesh?)
Hm, if i remember correctly he was the fifth king of Uruk (?), but since we are talking about myths, yes i meant the epic of course, which is full of sumerian mythology.
