Angels I guess.

Or at least the imagined winged versions of them.
People tend to use the word angel to cover alot of holy authority figures, but I'm just speaking aesthetically here. Winged, Humans. Kickass.

Gryphon. They won't instantly try to eat you, and if you raise it right, they become mounts.

Sphinxes, hydras, krackens, and chimeras all tie for second.

Either the Griffin or the Phoenix. The Griffin because they look cool, and two of them are on my clan's crest. The Phoenix because of the whole cycle of life they go through.

Is it worth pointing out that Cthulhu has nothing to do with mythology? It is, after all, a Lovecraftian invention and nothing more.

That said, I find Quetzalcoatl, and to a lesser extent, Circe, quite interesting.

Faeries, Angels, Sirens, Mermaids and most Greek/Roman Gods and Goddesses. Y'know, the original faeries were fucking scary...

Satyrs. Half man and goat. In Greek mythology they are said to be prone to drinking, partying and lusting for women. If I had to chose I would probably be this one so it is my favorite.

Why Snorlax of course.

Maybe this, who doesn't love a giant boulder shaped creature who sleeps 24/7?

Does Cthulu count?
Only if you can both say and SPELL his name correctly. Cthulhu.

I'm going to say - Loki. The ultimate trickster, half-giant, half-god. Bound by nothing, enemy of nobody, ally of the chaos.

Yes, he's that awesome.
Ala, the wiki, you can pretty much spell it how ever you want, i spell it C'thulu.
Proof:
Cthulhu has also been spelled as Tulu, Clulu, Clooloo, Cthulu, Cighulu, Cathulu, Kathulu, Kutulu, Q?thulu, Ktulu, Kthulhut, Kulhu, Kutunluu, Cuitiliú, Thu Thu,[3] and in many other ways. It is often preceded by the epithet Great, Dead, or Dread.
Lovecraft transcribed the pronunciation of Cthulhu as "Khlûl'-hloo" (IPA: /ˈkɬʊl.ɬuː/ ?).[4] S. T. Joshi points out, however, that Lovecraft gave several differing pronunciations on different occasions.[5] According to Lovecraft, this is merely the closest that the human vocal apparatus can come to reproducing the syllables of an alien language.[6] Long after Lovecraft's death, the pronunciation kə-THOO-loo (IPA: /kəˈθuːluː/) became common, and the game Call of Cthulhu endorsed it.

Maybe I'll just stick to unicorns, they are magical and i own a book were a Nazi rides around on one.

Bono, Dragons , and the most fearsome creature of all time the libera .. which has th body of a fat man with three heads. One with bill Mahrs head one with Micheal Moores head and with Rosey O'donalds. This fearsome beast destroys it's prey by nagging it to death.

Well, obviously the Bavarian Wolpertinger.
It's monstrous.

Seriosly, though?
Probably the Griffin. Eagle and lion combined into one animal? Now that's double the amount of awesomeness!
I have a Wolpertinger companion in WoW...
OT: I'd go for dragons myself.
