The Portal Gun is arguable as a weapon, but I'll be the second to admit it was badass
Shoot a portal on the ceiling over the fire pit, then shoot the other portal under your enemy

viola, weapon worthy

All on this list will be put to shame by Resistance 2. Whether you think its brilliant or mediovcre, you must admit that Insomniac make some fine ass weapons. And few come cooler than The Splicer. Primary Fire shoots saw blades that deflect off the environment, cutting up everything it hits. Secondary fire lodges that saw blade in your enemies sternum, where it keeps spinning and just cuts through them.
That's hardly new, in fact aside from the part with the sawblade lodging in the enemy, it sounds exactly like the ripper from the Unreal series.

Although it's not "new" per-se I have to second the landshark gun from Armed and Dangerous.

Meh, it's not nearly as cool as Pandora or Nevan, in my opinion.

While it's not a new gun, it was in a game that came out this year (the cod:Waw beta): the Mosin-nagant. Fuckin' awesome.

I don't have one yet but I'll be willing to bet my favorite will be the mini-nuke launcher from Fallout 3.

Regardless of it's lack of newness, the landshark gun (Armed and Dangerous) was a work of art.

It's far from new, but I loved the fighting in Indiana Jones and the Emporers Tomb for PC. In that one, you could use all kinds of things as weapons, even your own hands. Being able to use the right and left mouse buttons to throw left and right hooks in fist fights was awesome! So was being able to actually grab enemies and throw them down or beat them up while holding them. That game did a great job of mimicking the fights in the Indy movies. I have played so many games before and since that game where I've wanted to just run up to an enemy and beat him up but couldn't because I had to pick up some weapon instead. Even most games (with the obvious exception of martial arts and wrestling games) where you can use your hands instead of weapons have pretty lame punching mechanics that seem to be just thrown in afterthoughts of "gee, what if they run out of ammo? Oh yeah, they could just hit the guy I guess".
