Swap Aeris theme (I am from England) for One Winged Angel and You'r not Alone for The Dark Messenger (Kuja final battle music) and you have my list. Espesialy To Zanarkand from FF X. It has to be my favorite piece of FF music.

Also notice how every FF has been crap since X. And Nobou stoped composing for FF games after X. Just saying.

I was pleasantly surprised that FF13 had a good soundtrack. I thought it would be horrible without Nobou. To me Nobou's work will always be better, but FF13's soundtrack was still pretty good.

I'd also like to give an honorable mention to Takeharu Ishimoto for his renditions of Uematsus themes. He is an excellent composer, and really does Uematsus music justice. He did Crisis Cores and Dissidias sound tracks, which really show off some of his excellent work.

Well damn. I love a lot of Uematsu's works. Especially stuff from FFVII and FFIX. I can't pick just one.

FF4 - Prologue
FF5 - Dear Friends
FF6 - Terra's Theme (honourable mention to Searching for Friends)
FF7 - Cid's Theme
FF8 - Shuffle and Boogie (so catchy!)
FF9 - You're Not Alone
FF10 - To Zanarkand

I don't really have a favourite after that. The best overall soundtrack is probably Final Fantasy VI. My favourite song overall has to be the Prologue but Terra's Theme is a really close second.

It's got to be damn near criminal to ask someone to pick favourites from these things. SO MANY SONGS are just too fucking good for their own reasons to be judged better than others. An exercise this frustrating should be brought to the attention of the UN and Amnesty International as torture. SERIOUSLY.

Playing video games, the music is repeated so much of these songs are etched into our brains permanently. Many are so firmly ingrained into our psyche that they form as much part of our identity as part of our playlists. Tonight I'm going downtown to see a band called Nerd Army play video game music covers. They're mainstay playlist always has a few Final Fantasy songs and every time I see them play the crowd always goes nuts when they do those numbers.

[EDIT] Turns out the concert was sold out and I couldn't get in. Major fail for me but double plus win for video game music.

This is an interesting idea. I had to do some reviewing and listening, but here's my list:

1: The Final Fantasy Theme (Crossing the Bridge)
2: Rebel Army
3: Battling Dark Cloud
4: Within the Giant
5: Battle on the Bridge
6: Searching for Friends
7: JENOVA (I think I must have listened to One Wing too many times)
8: The Castle
9: Assault of the White Dragons (A CGI Piece, but still...)

I also played 12, but none of the pieces really stood out for me. Did Nobuo even do that one?

I feel that 7 and 8 had the best tracks overall, with a nod to 6 as the third. If this was a top X list of all the Final Fantasies, these would be drawn heavily upon.
