What is your favorite non video gaming hobby?

I have a few, namely Lego, anime and manga, as well as book collecting/reading and Magic: The Gathering cards which I use to play with my friend once a month when I could get hold of him for a game.

There's a number of reasons why I have those four extra hobbies, mainly because I see myself as somebody who's capable of putting the controller down when I need to/have to, without fighting about it too much. All hobbies cost a lot of money these days, regardless of whether it's a video game hobby or not. I've been starting to cut back on my hobby spending in order to get out more with my friends, but some of my friends share hobbies with me which makes it easier to bond with them.

I'd joke that Tabletop Gamers/Board Gamers are the master race instead of PC Gamers, but I don't really want to start something flamey. If you do see me saying something like that, it's always in jest.

Renting DVDs and taking them home to watch... often to criticise.
I also take a certain pride in my writing skills.

Archery would be up there with my favourite things to do. Costuming is also a past time of mine when I have the money for it.

I'm an avid film collector, been working on it for 3 years and have almost 200 movies. When i'm not playing video games I read, or watch movies, or do other activities that consist of me sitting around doing virtually nothing.

Reading and writing, mostly. I also collect and listen to music, watch TV and movies, and sometimes draw and paint.

Cycling - absolutely love it, have a gps tracking device on me mobile which uploads to a googlemaps integrated site; plots where you've been, average speed, top speed, calories burnt etc..

Swimming too but only occasionally, even though I live 100 yards away from a swimming baths the cost puts me off more than the random times when you're actually allowed to swim when it isn't "women only" or "kids only" or "aquacise" or some other rubbish.

I do find as hobbies though both outweigh the sitting on me backside in front of a computer for eighteen hours a day a little.

I can be quite the filmaholic whenever I'm not gaming. I constantly look into films, constantly see them be it at the cinema or by renting them, I know about movies most of my friends don't, in fact I often enjoy trying my hand at making 'em. But apart from that I have this odd obsession with walking. Sometimes I'll spend hours just pacing back and forth in a room, other times I might just go out and walk the dog. It's because whenever I walk my mind flows alot better, I just have all these great ideas for movies, games, books, flash toons and so on. Of couse most things I like to do outside of gaming are things I don't get to do very often, like I always make up good costumes if I'm going to a costume event. I was born with an amazing voice in that I'm a great impersonator and through that I've found I'm a pretty damn good singer so sometimes I just randomly repeat quotes or start singing songs. For a while I played warhammer 40:K but the games workshop was far away, it was getting expensive, most games I played ended up in me losing a few turns in because of my low pieces and half the time I didn't understand the rules. But it had it's wonderful charms, I made a few friends down at that marvellous little shop, I used to buy white dwarf and used to love reading through it even though I didn't know what was going on. And the battles, they were great. Good guys (Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Tau etc) on one side, bad guys (tyranids, Orcs, Necrons etc) on the other. side by side with guys you normally knew, setting up your pieces, talking strategy often with the guys around you while te guys went over the rules, loud heavy metal music blazing from the speakers in the background. And sure they were turn-based but you could almsot picture the battles in your mind and the guys who worked there were often nice and they knew it was unfair for you to get killed really early so sometimes they'd spare you a big unit for your army so you could really make an impact. Oh and there was nothing more satisfying than having a series of successful rolls of the dice with your guys that sometimes resulted in the death of your enemy by severe boltgun, plasma cannon powerfist blows straight to the face, or saving your hide from that guys chaos spawn vomit blast. But the painting was really fun, sure it was a pain in the ass doing it, but at the place they had a really good setup for painting with all the colours you could think of with brushes to boot. You'd save up your pennies, buy a great new guy, get the right paints and normally just kill a few hours talking to the guys at your table about things other than warhammer, primarily games and in the end you'd produce a little masterpiece. But after a while I stopped because it was waaaaay too expensive, some of the people there were kind of sad, the music eventually began giving you the mother of all headaches, the battles would always result in your ass being blasted off the face of whatever planet you were apparently on by Martin McMoneybags and his super awesome mecha laser monster of mecha death Orc epic spawn of death with nery a roll of the dice. I felt sort of out of place because everyone there had been playing for ages...I hadn't.

Ditto on the archery. Also, when not gaming, I watch TV and watch DVD's.

Swimming too... but in a sporting sense. Oh and please call it a 'pool' not 'baths': we aren't living in ancient Rome.

Does sport count? If so then fencing is it, if not then Dnd.
You are now one of my favourite people. Foil, sabre or epee?

Mine are a tie between drawing, fencing, listening to music, watching the occasional manga and sewing. Loving sewing right now. Oh, and manga. I prefer manga to anime, as the art tends to be a little more unique.
