Below are my favorites. I believe they are all rather obscure.
Bloody Mallory a French movie from 2002. A sexy crime fighting woman tries to save the Pope who has been kidnapped by a fallen angel. Did I mention her demolitions expert is a transvestite in 4 inch heels and a blue wig? Over the top, but very fun to watch. I believe you can still find it on hulu.
Teen Witch Hilarious and over the top 80s-tastic awesomeness. Story about an awkward high school girl who finds out she is a witch. Awesome cameo by Zelda Rubinstein and it's a musical.
The Orphanage This one isn't that obscure, but I liked it so much I have to list it to get others to watch it. A woman brings her family back to her childhood home, where she opens an orphanage. She thinks that the home may be haunted and her son is in danger, but what is paranormal and what is in her head?
"M" German movie from 1931 about a child murder and the lengths people go to stop him.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill Documentary on flocks of wild parrots who live in San Francisco
Winged Migration Documentary on the migratory patterns of birds, shot over the course of three years on all seven continents. Might sound dull to those who only like Michael Bay movies, but really very interesting.
Some other older movies that weren't obscure at the time but are now:
Auntie Mame
The Court Jester
The Children's Hour
The Apartment
Can you tell I like old movies? I could write a book, really. But I'll leave it at that.
