Despite the rather low (as I expected) turnout for this topic, I'm still pretty glad I made it. I appreciate everyone that did participate as all this music has been very good.

I honestly do appreciate all the selections you brought to the table, but would you mind coming back to the topic to edit your post and put those into a spoiler box? Makes it easier for everyone.

As the title implies, this topic is dedicated to paying tribute to REAL music. Not to say your favorite bands aren't music, but in all honesty I find that while music from your favorite band or artist might be fun to listen to and sing along to, it takes an orchestra or a symphony to give us music that's powerful enough to evoke a true sense of emotion. I'm sure there's still plenty that want to argue over that, but damnit that's not why we're here!
I know that isn't why we are here, but isn't that a little small-minded of you? I mean that just seems narrow minded to me.

But on topic, does any of Hans Zimmer's work count? What about that of John Powell.

Randy Edelman's score for Dragonheart. Or his and Trevor Jones' work on Last of the Mohicans.

Listen to the first part of that, and tell me that doesn't fire you up, make you want to suit up, hop in a mech cockpit, and fight something!

It was a joke, my friend, as my entire OP was written to be rather light-hearted and goofy (hence my acknowledgement that this topic will likely end up being a dud in the end). You're the type of person the last sentence in that paragraph was for: "I'm sure there's still plenty that want to argue over that, but damnit that's not why we're here!"

Getting back onto the topic at hand, I do agree; Pacific Rim had some pretty good music when it comes to getting amped up for a good giant robot battle. And to be fair, I probably should have said "anything instrumental will do" as there's plenty of songs out there that are just music with no lyrics, but in particular I was looking for things from orchestras and symphonies.

Elgar's Enigma variations just fucking does it. Especially "Nimrod". Howard shores "The Lord of the Rings" works got me a ticket for running a red light.

Last, but not least ANY of Bach's Organ Works. My fav being his Toccata & Fugue In D Minor, BWV 565. He has to be the greatest organist to ever live.

I'm also such a great fan of choral works, considering that I have a choral voice.

I have plenty of works that I consider to be great, but my all time being "Song For Athene" by Tavener. Look it up on youtube since I forgot how to embed youtube videos into my post.

My apologies. I failed to see you were being sarcastic. No worries.
