The moment towards the end of Travel by The Gathering where Anneke sings "I wish you knew your music was to stay forever" "I have no clue if you know how much it matters" then wails "I hope." Gorgeous moment, truly breathtaking live.

During "The Perfect Element" by Pain of Salvation where Daniel sings, "Once he had forests and mountains that were only his etc." I cried the first time I heard that.

The crescendo towards the end of A Corporate Merger by Estradasphere.

The guitar solo at the end of Octavarium by Dream Theater.

During the song Reflections by Gordian Knot the music from 2:11-3:32 is probably the prettiest thing I've ever heard in my life.

The end of Daniel Cowman by Regina Spektor where she sings "A man destined to drown can never burn etc"

The build ups on Charles Mingus' "Mode D,E,F."

Any chorus of "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd.

Philly Joe Jones' drum solo on John Coltrane's "Locomotion"

Every drum solo of Max Roach's on Sonny Rollins' "Saxophone Colossus"

The Solo in Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, but my favourite part of the solo is around 6:56 - 7:09

everytime a good drum and bass track drops. Especially with my speakers... the bass on them can kill small children...

Dammit - Blink 182, love the song, love the intro, but most importantly.. love the line "You'll be Sorry when i'm gone"
That line isn't in Dammit.
It's Adams Song. I know because when I was going through a tough time I listened to it and broke down.

I can't explain my favourite part. That rush you get when you hear a good bit. Like the 'Under Pressure' song by David Bowie and Queen, when Freddie sings, "Why can't we give ourselves one more chance? why can't we give love a chance?"
Wheeew!
Yeah Under Pressure was a great song by an amazing musical duo.
But, my favorite part of any song has got to be from the Rush song "2112" the bit about the Priests of Syrinx. Although it is hard to point out ones favorite part in a song about a futuristic odyssey with ancient instruments.

"All of my life
I?ve been searchin? for a girl
To love me like I love you
Oh, now... but every girl I?ve ever had
Breaks my heart and leaves my sad
What am i, what am I supposed to do?"

Also With a Little Help From my Friends is all wonderful lyrics.

[a href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0jyqGxAyRc]the stations by the gutter twins[/a] When they start singing
...the rapture's comin'
They say He'll be here soon
Right now there's demons crawling all around my room
They say He lives within me
They say for me He died
And now I hear His footsteps
All most every night
I have to turn it up and sing along. And I rarely sing along with songs.

Personally I love the opening riff of Money for Nothing by Dire Straits, the one thing I HAVE to learn of guitar.
I love that riff, but it is a git to get right on guitar. Still, good on you, yay for Dire Straits!

I reckon my favourite guitar riff has to be the intro to The Trooper - it's just so iconic and instantly recognisable, not to mention fun to play.

the part of the song after 3:15 until the end. the guitar/feedback solo makes me feel like someone's jamming razorblades into my ear if i listen to it loud enough, but i do it anyway because it perfectly conveys the emotion the band had intended. sad, sobering, and serious.
