What a cathartic idea!
PREPARE FOR A VERY MUSICAL EDITION OF FAVOURITE PARTS.
ME2:
-the entire intro sequence, from the space walk to Shepard dying with that piano music in the background [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW8x8I8kA2U&t=4m50s]. This was my first exposure to Mass Effect, and I knew right then I was in for the long-haul.
-the Illusive Man scenes... his mysterious eyes, the glorious star in the background [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBLOvSb56Vc].
-"I guess we should give it a name." [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXCM0lZxh4U]
-Omega's grungy vibe. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUKrhOu6e28]
-Mordin's recruitment mission and the way it felt like an extension of Omega's grungy vibe.
-Garrus's recruitment mission. That was the first time I was seeing the guy, and they
still managed to make me know that this reunion was one for the books.
-Mordin.
My favourite video game character, period. Can't write out all his amazing lines, and since Gilbert & Sullivan's been taken, I'll have to get more creative. The speech he gives about his nephew before going off into the Suicide Mission. "Can't anthropomorphize galaxy. But can think of favourite nephew. Fighting for him." [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAiG3WNQ06Q] One of the funniest and, simultaneously, most meaningful scenes in the game.
-Garrus.
Except maybe Garrus. Same as above, too many to write them all. I'll settle for this moment of honesty and friendship [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6zNZjKGGL8=0m37s].
-"I am a biotic God. Fear me."
-Thane's loyalty.
-Samara's loyalty.
-Kasumi's loyalty.
-Joker/EDI.
-all Elcor. Ever.
-Lair of the Shadow Broker. From start to finish. "I know your every secret, while you fumble in the dark." [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saBOuw1Pcjw=4m06s] Wowza.
-Grunt's theme [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhYEJ42sQ80].
-Tali's theme [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN4sXqnHZoI=1m20s].
-The Suicide Mission [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HL4FO3TKzY]. Losing my best mate Garrus, my trusted advisor Mordin, my ice queen with a conscience Miranda, and the coolest Geth in the universe, Legion. (Yeah, no way I was playing that save.)
Obviously that's far from everything... but it'll have to do on short notice.
ME3:
-leaving Earth. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGHA9oO1Ybg]
-all of Mars. The fight with Dr. Eva.
-exploring the ship all over again, seeing how my baby's changed.
-meeting up with the old team, seeing how they've changed and what they're up to. Reminiscing about old times.
-EDI. Her intro scene, her relationship with Joker, anything and everything, but
especially her final talk with Shepard on Earth. That was amazing.
-all of Palaven, meeting Garrus. Speaking of Garrus: his early conversation about how before you were doing everything on the fly, but now Shepard and Garrus are both - tongue planted firmly in cheek - "respectable." And of course, balcony.
-meeting Kasumi, her close call with death. It was my first reality check that anyone could die at any time, and it left a mark.
-"You big, stupid
jellyfish!"
-all of Sur'Kesh. Meeting Wrex. Having the opportunity to reunite Wrex, Liara, and Garrus, and watching that sequence of events unfold. "Now we can get back to doing what krogan do best: saving everyone else from giant monsters." [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bj4UV7RV5o=m2s12]
-Meeting Mordin.
-all of Tuchanka. Reaperzilla vs. Threshra. "Someone else might have gotten it wrong."
-The Citadel feeling like a real city with many different areas and vibes, all of the squadmates coming down for some shore leave.
-the squadmates going over to talk to one another.
-Jack's character development.
-Grunt's sacrifice. (He got better.)
-Thane's death.
-meeting Legion, Tali.
-all of Rannoch. "I'll build my home here." Legion's sacrifice, failing to broker a peace between the Quarians and the Geth and watching the genocide that unfolds, culminating with Tali's death.
-Kaidan/Ashley's role in the plot, coming by to see if they're OK or not and never knowing if they'll pull through. Kaidan's attempt at romance in the Presidium.
-seeing the destroyed Citadel after the Cerberus attack.
-Liara's time capsule.
-confrontation between Anderson, Shepard, and The Illusive Man. Didn't really like a lot of the stuff that led up to it, and obviously anything after, but there's about 2-3 minutes' worth of stuff there that had me right on the edge of my seat.
