Okay, speaking as someone who's been watching episodes of Mighty Morphin for months, and just got up to the third season, there's a question I have for those of you on Escapist that did watch Power Rangers.

What Power rangers show did you like most?

I've taken up re-watching Power Rangers on Netflix mainly so I can properly catch up, since despite the fact I loved Power Rangers growing up, I could hardly remember much of it. Though it probubly didn't help matters that the first show (I.E, Mighty Morphin) came out when I was 2.

but as a kid, I did somewhat remember liking Lost Galaxy the most, I guess that show stuck out in my head the most because it was the first time I've seen essential members of the show's cast killed off (Scorpius, Magna Defender, etc). Also, it was the first Power Rangers show, or the first of any show for that matter, that got me hooked mainly because of the villain, Trakeena, I thought she was interesting and I found her genuinely sympathetic, I think I even shed tears when I saw her with her last moments with her dad, Scorpius. And I was an 8 year old boy when I saw this!

In Space was the best one. The quality dropped once Disney took over, like REALLY dropped.

Can you believe they swapped Mystic Force's opening from this:

to THIS?

That said, RPM was pretty good. Probably because it was supposed to be the last season (Then Saban bought it back), so Disney let the writers have some wiggle room in what they did.

My favorite would be Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. You know, the Japanese original.

In Space, Time Force, and the original.

Those and Zeo are also the ones with my favourite opening themes.

Reaction: they had more thant one?!

Answer: I guess the one with Rita Repulsa and Z-something (Zed?).
I vaguely remember a movie about a purple guy and some sky-diving and dinosaur bones, too.

You're thinkin the original, Mighty Morphin. That's the movie to it you're describing too. I watched it a while back with my sister, and it's so... cringeworthy it's hilarious.

Well I grew up with Time Force and Wild Force, so its sort of a tie. I've only seen some episodes of the series that came after Wild Force and I didn't particularly enjoy them. I love the movies though, especially Turbo.

My favourites are In Space, Lost Galaxy, and Wild force.

Recently I've been breaking into the original japanese ones, but with Super Sentai could only bother with Akibaranger since I didn't feel like dealing with some overlap.

Although I'm now currently quite firmly in the Kamen Rider corner.

My Favorite is Linkara's History of Power Rangers show. Do I win?

So when is he gonna release another episode of that anyway?
[sub]I'm joking. I know it's rude and I'm all too happy when he does update it. We'll call it a happy surprise.[/sub]

I did watch the show way back when. But I stopped sometime in the Ninjor arc (Season 3). I think around the third time he got kidnapped, I just threw my hands up and said I was done with it.

Admittedly, I did watch the SPD series and found it pretty good. I didn't even bother with the Mystic Force. Just the theme song turned me off of that.

I watched the first episode of Megaforce and while it looked like it could potentially be fun, I was horrified at just how cynical the show got at this point.

I mean power rangers were ALWAYS a bad show aimed at selling toys to kids but watching Megaforce was like watching a toy commercial. The enemies are toys, the walls of the cave with the talking toy tiki were lined with action figures, the morphers went from metallic medallions to toys with moving parts, the weapons themselves are plastic toys and apparently, there's now a card game too.

It's kind of sad. The license has a lot of potential but the people making it aren't even trying anymore. It's a product of a bunch of businessmen in suits trying to sell stuff. There's no creative spark, nothing.

The problem with power rangers is that it failed to grow up with its audience. And it would take so little to make it appealing to nostalgic 20-year-olds. I'm not talking about making it all dark and gritty, that would just be dumb. All it would take is some halfway decent writing, more humour and a sense of self-parody.

As a child I watched them all up until Lightspeed Rescue. I did see some of Wild Force and Time Force. I loved them all as a kid, now though... they're bad. So bad it's funny.

Lord Zedd was a genuinely cool villain though, so I'll say I liked season 2 of Mighty Morphin the best.

Have you watched RPM?

OT: I always enjoyed Lightspeed Rescue. Carter Grayson is badass.

That's easy.

Beat me to it, but I will say I LOVED Zeo and power rangers in space. I was 17 or 18 when this series came out, and it was nothing but awesome sauce everyday. Even now I wish I could jump in a time machine and enjoy this series all over again.

The first one was classic campy that makes you smile-yet-cringe all day long. For me for the American stuff it's gotta be Dino Thunder.

I mean come on. They brought back Tommy, made inside-jokes galore, there was some reasonable character interaction (though still terribly cliche in some places), and they even had an entire episode with the three main characters watching, making comments, and complaining about their own Japanese source-material. As someone who hadn't seen the series since he was a child, finding Dino Thunder one day was an enjoyable surprise.

In terms of the Japanese stuff, I still have to go with Gekiranger. It plays very much like things like Dragonball and other kung-fu animes but with it's own spin on things, I think the only odd part of the series was some of the things relating to the giant robots, but after that? Enjoyable. Gokaiger is also quite the blast, especially since I'm guessing american audiences will never see it, but it's a little bit of a tough sell since it's an anniversary series and references teams that we as english-speaking viewers have never even seen or heard of before. Still fun, though. It's Space Pirates, why the hell not? Plus their sixth member is a 100% complete-and-total fanboy, which makes for some funny stuff.

Honestly I couldn't tell you due to how long it's been since I last remember actually watching any of the series.
