The Daedra aren't undead.

The Aedra, such as Akatosh, are undead, but the Daedra are very much alive without having been killed before.

But when you defeat them, they don't really die, just banished. Then come back.

Being undead is: alive -> defeated/dead -> alive a second time

A Daedra is similar with: present -> defeated/banished -> present a second time

Also I don't really want to get into an argument because I can't really be arsed and you appear to already be in one.

The Might and Magic representation of the undead. Not all mindless, very civilized. Businesslike.

Easily. By far.

I also quite like the Necromorphs from Dead Space, the way they are explained and represented, they are just creppy and repulsive as hell!

Do the Half Life Headcrab Zombies count? I can't remember if the human hosts are actually dead or not. Either way, they scared me quite a bit.

Damn you Raveholme . . .

I've always loved Blizzard's undead legions.

Arthas, Sylvannas, Godfrey, the frostwyrms, thaddius, falric and malwyn, Kel'thuzad, Anub'arak, and

the plague has produced so many badasses.

It's bad-ass juice ©

NOT to be confused with bad ass-juice ©

I don't think they are dead. I think I remember reading somewhere that the host is fully aware of every action that the 'zombie' engages in.

Think of that. Your head gets eaten and then your body is used to feed all while you're fully conscious. Ughhhh.

You named your undead character after a big bug?

Uh, I was always under the impression that the Daerda and Aedra were supposed to be the Edler Scrolls' version of demons and angels, respectively. Wouldn't the very prospect of being divine put you outside the whole life and death cycle anyway?

No no no, there's a comment between Anub'Arak's name and the first bracket.

My wow character was named Vorack, but I felt that irrelevant.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. I'm still selecting them as my favorite though. Like you said, their situation is just plain creepy.

Okay, not really. I do like the concept, though.

I'll go with the Warcraft ones, I think.

EEeeeehhhh.....that undead guy or whatever seems a bit too much Deus Ex Machina for me.

CANNOT BE HARMED. BADASS KILLER. PLOT ARMOR.

One of the reasons why I hate Kratos as a character. What's his weakness again? Really sad for his dead family so he goes on a killing spree to justify it? Yea that's not a weakness. I hate Kratos so much.
His weakness would be his uncontrollable rage that doesn't even subside when he wins.

GOW1 ends, he wins. He's a God. He's had his revenge on Aries. He could of learned to control his anger, stop being a dick and plain enjoy life.

Nope. The rage still consumes him, and he forces the other Gods to turn against him, loses God hood, ensures more suffering from himself.

I mean, yeah it doesn't work game play wise, but he's a character that can never enjoy life... pretty big weakness there bro.
But its still not a deep character. Its not a sad and depressing tale of being consumed by rage and grief, its a muscle bound power fantasy. Who the hell feels sad for Kratos? Really? The guy that rips of heads like its going out of style? Everyone associates Kratos with raw badass power and gets a joy out of watching him kill things, and every iteration of the franchise just builds on these moments. His rage is just a way to lazily progress the story forward.

Oh no, we need more things for Kratos to kill!

Lets make him really angry at another bunch of gods for some reason so he fights them!

PERFECT!
I disagree, sir. I think Kratos is a tale of a man consumed of Rage and greif to the absolute extreme.

Yeah he gets revenge. Becomes the new God of War... so fucking what? His wife and kid are still dead, the only two human beings he ever cared about.

No matter what he does, he can't find peace, his rage can never be extinquished even after he murders the entire greek pantheon.

I'll put it this way... I beat GOW1, I was proud that day. I went into work boasting I had killed a God. It was pretty cool.

I beat GOW2/3? I felt hollow inside. Kratos' grand narrative reached it's logical end, but his victory is inherently empty. He would of been better off had Athena just like him die peacefully as he wanted to back in GOW1

In World of Warcraft, you play as a Deathknight...but thats not really creative and your just more of a necromancer.

Left 4 Dead zombies, if they count.

Does Jack from Bioshock count? He gets killed over and over but never dies cause of his powers so he is kinda undead.

What about Alcatraz from Crysis 2? He's just a sack of giblets by the end of the game sooo..?
The idea in crysis 2 i think was awesome: The suit is keeping you alive. And how everytime you headed into one of those towers you almost died because its battery was almost dead :p

The skeleton mages in Diablo II. It's not often you see skeletons wielding magic. Liches, definitely, but not skeletons. Especially given that as a Necromancer, you can summon human-sized skeletons from the pygmies in Act III.

My brother's answer for how that's possible? "I'm efficient."

the one I quoted?
it's a ReDead, from Legend of Zelda
basically a zombie that paralyzes you if you make eye contact and then he latches on to you like a backpack and starts biting you =P

as for the skeleton, I really wonder why they decided to pussify them so much in the later games, they were real threats in Daggerfall
