Short, sweet and simple... what's your favorite RPG? One rule: No MMORPGs. They... belong in a different category.

Mine: Mega Man X Command Mission. Best turn based combat, ever.

KotOR is better than everything ten fold.
No other game has even come close to being as awesome, save Baldur's Gate, which is still far behind.

Exile 3. Ancient game, old fashioned graphics...but fun, and with a great story and world building.

Planescape: Torment for the story side, best story in any RPG I've ever played.

Other than that, the whole BG series, for the massive size of the game. There are so many things you can do in the game, you can play it a dozen times and still find something that you haven't seen in other playthroughs. Other than that, it's just plain fun and just an epic story, especially when you see all the games as one long story, which it essentially is.

I can't really narrow it further down than that, been tough enough to just get those two as it is. Those two are my choices.

I've just been Ninja'd, but Baldur's Gate.
Especially Baldur's Gate 2.

It even manages to induce more nostalgia in me than any other game has.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age. The game was perfect for me. It had a complex system but wasn't complicated like FF, fantastic graphic for it time on the GBA and a fantastic and compelling story. I prefer this to the first one because unlike Golden Sun, the sequel give you a boat to ride on given you a sense of freedom so it wasn't lineal in term of progress.

Baldur's Gate series, Planescape Torment or..Divine Divinity series. If I could play these games for the rest of my days, non stop, I would.

Fire Emblem for the GBA. The first one that was released offically in the U.S, played the hell out of that game. Still do, come to think of it.

Edit: Also, Fallout 3. Kinda terrible story/ending, but I've never had so much fun exploring.

Persona 4.
It actually encourages things like friendship without getting too cheesy with it. It lets you do a little role playing. It gives new meaning to the term "character-driven"....you know what? Screw it.
It has my favorite video game character of all-time.
Naoto wins the award. By herself.
