The Anju & Kafei sidequest in Majora's Mask
Undoubtedly. Took almost as much work as the core game quest and was probably more rewarding.

I prefered the theifs guild quests in oblivion to the dark brother hood. I just loved the big heist at the end. STEALING AN ELDER SCROLL! Now that is truly awesome.

Ahh I forgot about that.... I'm going to dust off my n64 and play that right now... nothing like annoying but fun side quests.

I'd also agree that the 'Who dunnit' quest in oblivion was awesome, but then again nearly every quest in that game is great.

anything in morrowind. the main quest was the most dull part. and that was still pretty cool.

I thought the Chocobo sidequest in FFIX was excellent, but I feel I'm in a minority saying that.
Oh, no way, man! Chocobo Hot & Cold stole my soul when I first played. Just .. so addictive.

For my own vote, I'll have to say the Fort Condor sidequest in FF7. I hated it at first, but as I got older and as I replayed it, it was a lot of fun. That, and getting Vincent. That's considered a sidquest, isn't it? Lost# always kicked my ass a few times around the Shinra mansion before I beat it. Always satisfying. ^_^

That bit was brilliant. Especially the part where you could drop balled up bits of paper to keep the guard distracted, and then running past him as fast as you could.

I loved many of the side quests in Oblivion, but the Dark Brotherhood was the best, my favorite mission was the one where you have to be a guest at the party and kill each person with nobody finding out.

dark brotherhood rocks ass. I also loved killing the dude that calls you off in the beginning of the game! Whodunit is absolutely genius.

My favorite sidequests are those in which you get to solve a mystery. In fact, my most memorable sidequest from KOTOR involved no combat at all, it was solving the murder on the fields at Dantooine. The quest was simply a lot of conversing with different characters, but it was really neat to finally put together all the pieces of the puzzle. What I really liked was that I remember the outcome was not based on your character's skills necessarily, but on the player's own detective skills and persistence. Quests that leverage my puzzle-solving abilities and brainpower always rank highly on my list.

I really enjoyed the side quest you had to do for Sheogorath in Oblivion to get the Wabajack Staff. Gotta love any quest that involves you making it rain cats and dogs and bring about symbols of the apocalypse.

Tetra Master in FFIX was so addictive, I've still never collected all the cards, and I've played through that game a dozen times. When I played FFXI, I think I spent more time with Tetra Master Online than the actual game. Actually, FFIX had a ton of awesome side quests, another reason I love it so much, I suppose

I've gotta give credit to The Final Heist. Stealing an Elder Scroll. Now that's epic. Also, the entire Dark Brotherhood quest, and the sidequest you get where you are trying to find that Argonian woman's daughter.

I'd say the entire Watcher's Keep bit in BG2/Throne of Bhaal... Very nice for an optional quest, AND the fight against the "imprisoned one" was pretty sweet.
