Just browsing through gamebanana, and Moddb and couldn't help but stop to think which reskins of characters and weapons I visually enjoyed the most.

The "why" doesn't have to be elaborate. I'll even take "because reasons...." Even a favorite modder if you'd like to give a random shout out to a talented renderer you've seen a few cool packs from. This can be any game. Skyrim etc...

What are yours?

For Fallout 3 I had found this hilarious mod that replaced a lot of the posters and signs with Doctor Tran movie posters.

It was awesome.

The mod which removed Cliff Racers from Morrowind was an absolute godsend.

I know it can be seen as cheating to remove an enemy type entirely from a game, but they were very easy, but just a complete hassle to deal with. Very, very buggy.

You would often find yourself 'in combat', with the music going and everything, but no enemies to be seen... oh, but look up and there is a bird vibrating against a tree at the top of a cliff that will someday make its way down to die. So broken.

So this mod made me very happy.

Other than that, I'm not really a user of mods at all!

You can mod Skyrim into a Bionicle game, and protect Mata Nui from Makuta's shadow.

Definitely the L4D2 mod which turns common infected into the bugs from Starship Troopers. Loved the movie, love the mod.

Another one is the semi-conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire which turned the factions into Star Trek ones. Again, because I love the series.

I would add two more mods as ones I was hoping would make the list, but neither was finished before being abandoned so I can't even tell if they where good.

I...I think I actually may cry...my childhood, right in front of me! I'm building good gaming pc and I know the first damn thing I'm going to do with it!

OT: I've never really dealt with mods, the computer I mentioned above is going to be my first actual gaming quality pc; but the stuff I've heard about the XCOM Long War mod makes it sound completely amazing.

A tie between Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality, the Battlefield 2 engine may feel a bit wonky in the main game but in these mods it feels great and I am sad that there hasnt been an actuall Battlefield game with the level of quality in FH2 and that Arma cant manage something as simple as character movement and aiming.

Are these just visual mods we're talking about? If so, my favourite would probably be Lanterns of Skyrim. Doesn't change the actual graphics at all (I like them the way they are) but adds to the ambiance and gives the game a little more warmth. It's a small touch but I can't really imagine Skyrim without it now.

Also, SkyUI to replace the clunky console menus.

My actual favourite mod of all time though is probably either the Floris Mod Pack or Prophesy of Pendor (both for Mount and Blade Warband). Floris takes the original game to amazing levels by extending and improving it in every way. Pendor is an entirely new game and is a lot more challenging than the native experience.

Every time I play FO3 I make sure to install the Reinforced Chinese Stealth Armor mod. It is integrated in to the game well with an in-game quest explaining how it ended up in DC and you need to go to enter some of the most dangerous areas in DC with great hacking skills to get a hold of the suit. I always end up using the suit when I replay FO3.

I don't mod much, but I did install a couple of skin mods for L4D2 which made the survivors into Wrex, Tali, Garrus and Shepard, and the common infected into husks from ME3. I thought it was pretty damn cool.

Gotta say...that sounds like it'd be loads of fun. :3

As for my own contribution, I've always been partial to the Macho Man dragons for Skyrim

More so for the sounds than the actual look. Though I'd dare say that look makes it more terrifying than any dragon I've ever seen. :p

My favourite by far is the Skyrim mod that turns all the dragons into the Macho Man Randy Savage. RJ clearly agrees as he ninja'd the whole affair with his sneaky ninja powers :p

Why is it my favourite? Well just fucking look at it! Fucking listen to it!

There used to be a fantastic Elseweyr mod for Oblivion. It was pretty unfinished, but it was fucking gorgeous and really felt like what Elseweyr might have looked like if it was added as an expansion. Very lore-friendly (I like my mods to be lore friendly), lots of cool little details and beautifully made environments. I just wish it was finished when I played it really, it could have been perfect.
