Probably Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, that would be my favourite sociopath.
Ugh... damn you. 'I'm a high functioning sociopath, do your research!'

Can't wait for season 2, since Moriarty is delightfully unpredictable.

Can't think of that many that I actually 'like'...

Izaya Orihara of 'Durarara!!'.
Crazy dude...
See, I so prefer Heiwajima Shizuo (partially for the name, which is ironic to say the least) and how straight forward his personality is...
I like Shizuo too, but I wouldn't really paint him a socio or a psychopath.

Daniel Plainview from There Will be Blood, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs, Rorshach from Watchmen, Batman, I can go on for hours.
Well, maybe not hours, but definitely for quite a while.

Andrei Chikatilo - keepin' it real?

I dunno, people have already named off several of my favorites and most of the human entries on my several times posted favorite villains list qualify. But, straight off the dome as fictional characters go:

- Trevor Goodchild
- Mr. Gone
- Kakihara
- Godha
- The deities from SUPERGOD by Warren Ellis
- AM
- Nurse Ratchet
- Anton Chigur
- Frank Fontaine
- Frank Booth
- Mystery Man
- Vukmir Vukmir
- G. Man
- Agent Ross

Points if you can name the sources for those :) ---(left them out this time)

I'm surprised no one's said Light, from Death Note; he's pretty much Ferris Bueller by way of Rorschach, and it's fascinating to watch his rise and fall.

Patrick Bateman. More so from the book by Bret Easton Ellis than the movie, but Christian Bale did a fantastic job portraying the character on screen. I'll never forget the first time I read American Psycho. Wow, what a book. So perfectly written to match the inner workings of a sociopath with OCD. It was then that Bret Easton Ellis became my favorite author. All his books are just written so perfectly for his characters.
He ranks very highly on my list.

However I like Zsasz because he really is fucking insane.

Arya Stark from ASoIaF. I don't normally like child characters in anything, but damn i wish she were my daughter. I'd be so proud! Also, it would probably be comforting to know that if anything ever happened to me, my daughter would systematically hunt down and brutally murder all those responsible.

Well do you have a name of one because in bloodlines they were mostly paranoid or
multiple personality disorder
They didn't really push the sociopath/psychopath part. I admit I lack knowledge on the rest of that world I started and ended with VTM:B.

Well the most basic definition often comes down to "lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience". So it could work, I fear I don't know enough about Frank Fontaine to be a judge.

Valid characteristics. He's not as prone to the 'impulsiveness' the characterizes real life sociopathy, but then, few fictional characters are made to be psychological studies.

Anyways, he's a con man, a thief, a smuggler, a racketeer, a murderer and accessory to murder, a pusher, a war profiteer and generally bad news.
