I really only like speed runs which are not "tool assisted". That just takes away some of the legitimacy if you're basically using a computer to hack the game.

What's fun about seeing a character model spaz out as someone glitches their way to the end?

At least the Morrowind one was done with no cheating.

Half-Life in half an hour is fantastic, especially in the commented version where the guys who did it explain just how it's done.

You're not hacking the game. When you do it tool assisted, you're simply slowing the game speed down and binding different controls sometimes.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

portal and braid speed runs are my favourite speed runs to do. i.e. not using glitches to complete.

Making the game play in a way other than intended by the programmers is hacking. But whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night *rolls eyes*

That, good sir, was uncalled for. Take your attitude somewhere else or calm down.

Now, I will agree that a TAS is easier than a normal speed run but it still takes some work. A TAS isn't trying to show off the skillz though. It's simply there to see how fast a game can be completed. Nothing more or less.

Scourge Done Slick was the best one I saw back in the day, but I haven't really kept an eye out for good ones since.
