the best tabletop is actually ZOMBIES!
It really is. The number of ways you can completely dick over the other players is astronomical. And you're encouraged to do so. It seem hard to find these days. I had to go to like eight different stores to find a starter set. Which is weird because a couple years ago you couldn't set foot in a Newbury Comics without practically tripping over them.

my friends and I play it on Teams, and very rarely do the teams turn on themselves... so it turns that whole "fuck over the other player and piss them off" into "winning"

Just keeps the politics at the table a little more civil

Although I'm definitely not one of the little pansies that doesn't like their shit getting kicked at the game table... if you want to fuck with me, bring it.. but other people get very upset, and having clear teams makes it easier for them to take a beating.

Racist checkers.

The rules aren't really based on race, but it adds a layer of strategy that makes the game really cool.

I want to get into Warhammer 40K but I am poor and cant be bothered to get a job.
Got about 10,000 points between my DA and Wolves for about £50-75 alltogether. It's possible to find some awesome deals on eBay. If they're badly painted? Soak 'em in Dettol or Simple Green for a couple of days, scrub 'em off and wash 'em in soapy water. Good as new, often with the primer coat still applied!

People will often refuse point blank to bid on the massive lots painted by a 9 year old with a wall brush. More's the pity.

Either D&D or 40K. If there is a large group of people available, 8 or more, I love playing Werewolf (also known as Mafia or Assassin).

Machiavelli is a great game too.

Meh, that sounds like a lot of effort. You see I'm allergic to effort. Why do you think I have no job. :)

Betrayal at the House on the Hill.
That game is so awesome! A survival horror game that changed with every play.

ZOMBIE!!! Everchanging scenarios, simple rules that welcome home-made rules, funny setting and a bliss to have five friends and you plotting against each other.

I love alliance-betrayal duels of wits. And this one has zombies.
That is technically borderline board-game, but that is one fun game.
