And while I liked Rin as a character (actually, I can't think of anyone in that game I didn't like...barring Shinji, Zouken, and occasionally Gilgamesh, but not because they were bad characters), she left me underwhelmed as a love interest, and I felt her development lagged behind the other heroines.
Besides, I'll take <color=white>her fine-ass sister over her any day.
gordon freeman!
or the aperture science robot
instead of a picture
we have song lyrics!
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.
Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe Black Mesa
THAT WAS A JOKE.
HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist.
Look at me still talking
when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive.
And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE

Tali'Zorah vas Normandy because only HK-47 beats her in badassitude. I'm starting to get worried though about my opinion of Tali, I'm actually read Fan Fiction about her. [sub] I need help.[/sub] T_T

What always bothers me is that you really can't talk about it with other people without invoking the stigma. The three arcs are great stories, but the stigma the game is means most people will never play through it.
Though, the UBW movie should be out on DVD in six months...and I get to force people to watch it. > Oh, and Sakura creeps me out. Still can't put my finger on why. :\
I think the problem there might be in Rin's character development might be because the UBW storyline is so focused on Shirou/Archer that it leaves a lot out on the other characters. In the other tow, Archer is practically nonexistent<color=white>Like how Sakura ceases to exist in the first two arcs story-wise.
i loved roxas from kingdom hearts 2 ... or axel my gamer name was made for him lol i dont even remember wat happened in the end of that game ?? so much plot for a kid my age wen i played it
Annah from Planescape: Torment. It's a pity the art in this game kind of sucks, because damn, the story's good, and she deserves a much better depiction than this giant-breasted and rather crude effort.

Stigma? What, that it's an eroge? I've run into that problem before. I don't consider sex-phobia to be a legitimate concern with Fate/Stay Night (which I plan to make clear in my eventual review), but I've had to accept people turning away from, say...<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672-Neutral-Drow-reviews-A-Drug-That-Makes-You-Dream>A Drug That Makes You Dream for that reason.
Unless I misinterpreted what you were saying.

From what I understood, that movie is terrible for introducing someone to the story (too compressed), but it looks awesome as all get-out. Can't wait to see it, myself.
And I can think of a number of legitimate reasons why she might creep you out. I just happened to find her character compelling and her appearance dead sexy, so she wound up being my favorite...after Saber, naturally.
But then, I always use Saber as an example in these threads because to me she beats everybody in that regard. I loved her personality (both stoic and impulsive, not to mention caring and friendly, competitive and driven...), her honorable badass persona, her asskicking skills, and her character growth.

Rin did feel kind of upstaged, yes. A similar thing happens with Hisui in her route of Tsukihime (especially near the end, she does double-duty with Kohaku), though she doesn't seem to hit it as bad as Rin.
Then again, Rin does get to shine more than most characters overall, since she's exceptionally important in each of the routes, something only shared by Shirou (as the protagonist) and Saber (after a fashion). Everyone else gets only one (Sakura, Caster, etc.) or two (Ilya, Archer, etc.) routes to their name; I wouldn't call Archer nonexistent in Fate (the one critical piece of advice to Shirou and <color=white>holding off Berserker) or Heaven's Feel (the fight against the shadow...and The Arm), though.

It makes people uncomfortable. Just getting one group I was in to watch the animation was heck.

Oh, there's no doubt that Saber's awesome. I think it's weird that's it's weird that an eroge character can beat other game characters in terms of depth. That might say something about the writers of games.

I haven't got that far yet, I am at the 'picture of her as my desktop wallpaper' stage. Although I tend to dislike fan-fiction in general (it's usually horrifically written) so fortunately I shan't go that far.
I still stand by my judgement that Bioware did some serious psycho-analysis when it came down to creating their characters in the Mass Effect series. It can't be simply down to the 'sheep effect' where so many people like Tali and Garrus; hell, I liked them straight away and I knew almost nothing about Mass Effect prior to buying.

The anime? Why, were they expecting the sex to stay in?
The only eroge anime adaptation I've seen do anything like that is Shingetsutan Tsukihime, and even then it was only implication.

I would definitely expect such from an eroge that wasn't all about the sex. Visual novels live and die by their stories, after all, with or without erotic content, so the better examples of the medium I would say certainly (even inevitably) compare favorably to other types of video games.
