That his nemesis keslar was actually him who travelled back in time because originally the ray sphere was activated by someone else who chose to destroy everything in it's path, keslar fled with his wife (trish) and his child using the powers he had been given in the explosion but after many battles he had nothing else to fight for since he had lost everything so using his newest power he goes on a one way trip back in time to take over the organization of the first sons and accelerate the research of the ray sphere and grant his past self (Cole) the cursed powers of the ray sphere and using his power slowly trains cole from behind the scenes to be able to make the hardest decisions all for the common good going so far to even kill the women he loved.

Oh and Lets not forget MGS4 .

My favourite would have to be Metal Gear Solid 4.
But I started Metal Gear Solid 3 recently and that is looking pretty good as well.

Don't even think of blurting out "Revenge of the Search Bar", because I searched and the closest thing that came up died in May. What's your favorite story line from a video game? I know it's not very original, but I had to create this because I just finished Prototype, and the plot twists almost made me shit my pants. It's in my opinion, the best story line from a video game in history, at least that I can remember. My favorite parts were when

he discovers that the real Alex Mercer died, and that he's actually the virus in his form.

he discovers that the real Alex was the one who unleashed the virus on the city. That means, that in reality, the military was trying to shut down Gentek to stop the virus from getting out. That means that the real Alex Mercer was a villain, and the military were the good guys.

The ending was so heavy that, after the final soliloquy, I was too sick to my stomach to start another game.

Agreed 100 percent, finding that out made me drop my job. Ironically, though, while

the REAL Alex Mercer was the bad guy who didn't care about the lives of those he'd ruin, the virus Alex Mercer had more of an anti-hero personality to him,

which made me like the entire game more than I truly thought I would.

Outside of agreeing with another post, my favorite Video Game Story that left a nice taste in my mouth was Metal Gear Solid, the PS1 game. It was...satisfying. Not to say the rest of the series wasn't satisfying, I suppose it was just that one that holds a special place in my heart.

Hotel Dusk Room 215 - Even though the Game bored me in the middle (20% - 90% except when you are in the bar) I must admit that I liked the story.

I quite liked mirrors edge for that factor.

Planescape: Torment by far. The story is not only about the search for The Nameless One's history or why he is what he is, but also a philosophical quest for both the protagonist and the player himself, revolving around the question "What can change the nature of a man?"

I liked Beneath the steel sky too, especially the ending where things got a bit creepier.

I haven't played I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream just yet, but I have read some appraising reviews.
