Favorite Video Game "Theme Song"

Now I know there are hundreds of "your favorite video game" forums cycling around but I want to know your favorite Theme songs of all time from said games. Your #1 or maybe top three will do and tell us why.

For me it has to be Legend of Zelda main theme for the shear fact it gets stuck in my head more often then any other song.

When it comes to theme songs Nintendo in general owns the scene.

Sure there are games that make their music stand out like Halo or Final Fantasy but with Nintendo creating the catchy songs for Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, and Kirby, they just know how to make good catchy tunes.

Not neccasarily the best music in a game..but the best "theme song" goes to zelda. First one that popped into my head i'm sure it'll be a favorite in replies to come. It's been remixed and reused so brilliantly over and over again in this series. There's that subtle build up... then the horns kick in and it's like your ten years old again. magic.

Halo or the original splintercells end credit song. (crystal method's name of the game or something like that)

Even if there's nothing else you can say about Halo, it's undeniabley got some of the best music from any game to date. I loved the Morrowind theme as well, even if it was repetetive, because it somehow never got old. Also, Kingdom Hearts (even though I've never played it), because that's the opening to our marching show this year.

There are two that come to mind, one's original and one...very much isn't.

I love the main theme from MGS3, it's such a groovy track, it catches the whole 60's vibe very well.

Also one of my favorites, and one that took me months to find on the internet, is the version of Franz Schubert's Ave Maria used in Hitman: Blood Money. I mean, it's just awesome to see 47 in the last part of the game with that playing over him.

Pokemon's theme. I still know the words, even though I haven't watched that show in years.
Metal Gear Solid 2's theme. So freaking Epic.
One Winged Angel from FF VII. Once again, totally epic.
Silent Hill 3's soundtrack. It fits the game so perfectly, its as if the environment itself wrote the music.

My favorite though has to be either 'Redemption' by Gackt, or 'Otherworld' from, FFX.

EDIT - I absolutely adore Dark Cloud's composer though, the entire soundtrack is a masterpiece. I need Dark Cloud 3. I NEED IT!

Sadly, they're doing White Knight Chronicles.

But as Dense_Electric said, the music in Halo is great. It is almost like the music reflects how good the game is supposed to be in the minds of all the fanboys. I like Halo, but I like the books a lot more.

I can play, on Piano, 'to zanarkand' from Final Fantasy 10, so it comes to mind first.
Second would be Snake Eater from MGS 3
Third would have to be the theme from Onimusha, simply because it's my favourite game/series of all time.
