We could talk about "best weapons" but that would be to objective, which weapons do you think just look cool?

I have three I think are top notch from a looks department,

I'm a fan of polearms, but I almost always mix up the names. I believe this is a halberd:
I just think that they look badass in action. :)

Most any colt revolver from the civil war era.

<spoiler=particularly the colt army revolver>http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/70/Colt-arme-1860-p1030159.jpg

<spoiler=Or the Colt navy>http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/1861Navy2.jpg

<spoiler=As well as the 1889 Winchester>http://www.gunstar.co.uk/images/Gun-Images/Marlin-1889-A15312.jpg

All of which I have.

<spoiler=I also enjoy Car Chains>http://images01.olx.com/ui/3/15/64/47141164_2.jpg

... There's been quite a lot of improvising, but a pair of chains (whether car or just regular), can be very damaging, and beautiful if you can wield them. Wel... beautiful right up tot the point where you just tear someone's face off.

.... Bastard Broadswords are also beautiful, just for the simplicity that anyone can use competently.

I'm a fan of bows. Everything from the most impractical concept bows you see in some rpg's to the most simple short bow.

The Owen submachine gun.
I just think it looks badass. Also the old Thompson M1928 (with a drum magazine of course).
I've never had any success posting pictures on this site (and I'm a lazy arse), so I'll let you guys punch it into google images yourselves.

I love bolt action rifles and revolvers.

Just something about the way it sounds when a bolt action rifle ejects spent rounds and the visual appeal of the revolver and the way it's reloaded just appeals to me.

Well, if we can consider tanks, then late models of the Tiger I have to be my favorite. The slight sloping of the lower superstructure, the way all the road wheels interleave, right down to the way the engine deck is laid out.. I don't know what it is, but the wide, horseshoe-shaped turret looks beautiful. Well, to me anyways.

I like my 416's like I like my women. Overpriced, with their actions frozen solid, their gas blocks exploded, their furniture cracked and with poor customer service.

Halberd.
It's the Swiss army polearm!
It crushes, tears, hacks, and impales in one handy package!

Edit: Before you ask, you can hit people with the reinforced shaft.

I agree with OP on both the Katana and Springfield, both absolutely beautiful weapons

In the make-believe genre I love

And, of course

Hrmm... Interesting question. I have to go with the double-barreled shotgun, although I hear Bulletstorm uses an all-new four-barreled shotgun, so there's a new contender in the race.
Also a python .357 revovler... just beautifully slender to look at, but also so powerful with those clips; simply huge for a hundgun.
In fact as far as revolvers go in video games, Ray McCall's dual pistols in Call of Juarez Bound in Blood which reflect the enviroment with their shiny metal are impressive as hell.
But honestly... it could only be more awesome if it had tits and was on fire: that right, it's the weapons of Painkiller (and Bulletstorm) which are the coolest, simply because the originality makes one marvel at them. I mean, come on! A grenade launcher which folds out into a minigun?! (Oops completely forgot TF2 there... which acctually has a combination of a revolver and a grenade launcher. Hmm, food for thought... [man, you ask a tough question]).

(Yay, post number 3. I really have to stop with this now.)

Edit: I find it ironic that the L85A2 is getting so many mentions the day after it was given as a gift to the players of the new F2P on steam (A.V.A.). It's almost too much of a coincidence...

Modern: The L85A2 is just badass, and the HK416 is pretty awesome too.

Old-Timey: The katana. Unoriginal, I know, but these are just awesome.

The ACR; just for how ambidextrous it is. and it looks like such a beautiful rifle to use, and you can just have that as a building point; add a scope or Laser to it. A grip for more control, a grenade launch or masterkey. Sorry to harp on but last point on it: you can adjust the but of the rifle in order to use for long range or close quarters combat which i think is a really nice touch to this weapon.

The Lee Enfield SMLE: Mostly for the same reason as the posters addition of the Springfield; a classic bolt action rifle which was renowned for its prowess during the wars and is still a beautiful looking weapon.

Close Quarters, i always liked the look of the Japanese Nagamaki: useful as a dual or single handed weapon, brutal in the eyes of the victim, yet so beautifully elegent.

Sweet Buddha this is making me sound like a serial killer...
