The Michael Jackson zombie in Plants vs Zombies. He summons backup dancer zombies and they proceed to do the thriller dance over to your house (to eat your brains). Oh, and this game came out like two months or so before he died, so it became so much funnier after that.
Beat me to it. Made the game tastelessly fun whenever one came up when I was/they were playing around friends/me.

The traffic cone/bucket logic also made zombies more amazing.

The necromorphs from Dead Space scared me shitless for a while. Then I got used to them
Oh yes, I had forgotten how creepy they managed to be. I'll still hold with the Thief zombies-the strobe light effect just throws off the movement and increases the fright factor, but Dead Space necromorphs had the most disturbing movement. Ew!

HEDCRARB ZOMBEH DEMANDS ICING!

Not only are they the slow, shambling yet powerful kinds that I enjoy but they were a walking (Or in this case shambling) internet joke the moment you laid eyes on them.

Tanks from Left 4 Dead. Those things turn the game from shoot, kill, progress. To Shoot, kill, listen, feel earthshaking, Run the other way!

suck on this...(insert chainsaw in mouth)

Favorite is the slow, everyday, easy to kill zombie... why? because its the only zombie thats a zombie.
If the hunter is a zombie is Alex Mercer a zombie? If the tank is a zombie is the hulk a zombie? If the smoker is a zombie does that make.... you know what I don't wanna know. still if they were not in the L4D it would be too easy, Like dead rising. I offically rename that game to M.A.D.Z.I. "Makeing Appointments During a Zombie Infection." The zombies were not even what made the game hard... they just made up the annoyances during boss battles and rescuing surviors... and your 3:00 appointment followed by a 3:02 appointment across the mall not giving you time to say the screaming woman on the other side of the food court.

Crimson Heads from RE1. Kill a regular zombie and forget to burn it's corpse? Better hope you don't forget it's there :/

Scared the hell outta me the first time...

Have to go with Crimson Heads. They are very much good old rotting flesh zombies, but quick enough to actually seem like they would be a threat.
It annoys to me how they didn't go to that direction in RE4 and the following instead of that ridiculous plaga thing. You shoot someone, their head bursts open and is replaced by insect/alien head?
That's not scary, just silly.

I never really got if RE tries to be campy or if the developers just suck at making anything serious. So, maybe they tried to get that B-movie alien invasion feel, but it seems to take itself too seriously to really work.

My favorite zombie is the "itchy itchy tasty tasty" zombie from resident evil (REmake, not sure if it was in the original). Classic moment in the series.

Favorite type of zombies...I don't know, they're all awesome...

Headcrab Zombies have it for me,
You shoot one down and it's head(crab) jumps up and tries to 'couple' with your head.

Plants Vs Zombies because they're creative and funny.
Or Dead Rising zombies because that's how I always imagine zombies. Let's hope they sort out the issues in the next game!

The ones that act like actual zombies.
If you're resurrected after being in the ground for a few decades you're not going to be able to move very well now are you. =O
