In all seriousness though, I like my villains to be only barely "evil" the more relatable they are to you the better.
Take for example, a villain like Teyrn Loghain. The guy has a list of crimes longer than the attempts I made at spelling his freaking title, and all for what? So he can have the power to defend against a distant enemy instead of the one on his doorstep. Silly man, silly plan.
Now, people like Atris come to mind, and they think that what they are doing is right, and in any other position, you might agree with them. That is a villain I can get behind.
