There's plenty of them.

Metallica, Iron Maiden, The Beatles, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hendrix, to name but a few.

I like a ton of music that was released before I sprung forth into this world. I'm a huge Jazz fan.

My favorite artist ever is Charles Mingus, of any genre.

There is no denying the fact that music today is different to that of ten, twenty or even thirty years ago. But, no matter what, good music transcends any generational gap. And that is what this is about: those bands that may have been from before your 'time', but you still listen to and love nevertheless.

My band would have to be R.E.M, simply because their music is incredible. Well, maybe not, but it's still very good. Some people say that Pink Floyd is their 'go-to' music whenever they feel miserable, others some heavy metal, but I just listen to R.E.M. 'Man on the Moon' followed by 'The Great Beyond' defeats all!

Honourable mention goes to Modest Mouse, kinda. They were mainstream since four years ago, but 'Lonesome Crowded West' and 'This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About' are both only a few years after I was born.
Easy!
The Who (anyone who doesn't agree is fail).

Black Sabbath, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Django Reinhardt and The Ink Spots are the ones I can think of now.
Any chance you had already known the Ink Spots BEFORE you played Fallout 3? (my guess is no)...

Beatles, Men Without Hats, Blue Oyster Cult.

Because we can dance if we want to. And not fear the reaper. While going back to the USSR.

Black Sabbath/ Ozzy Osbourne the greatest hits album my dad got one x-mas really got me into metal and music, and probably steered me away (spits on ground) rap music.

Wow, I feel really old now. Quite a few of the bands mentioned are 80's bands (or were at least still playing then). I may have only been a kid, but they were still around. Also, a number of people mention Metallica. Didn't they just release another album, thereby disqualifying themselves from this topic?

OT: The Beatles would be my #1, but also some of the others mentioned: Led Zepplin, The Doors, The Who, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, ELO, Lynard Skynard. Probably a lot more good ones, but I fail to think of them now.

But I don't agree. And I've been told that I 'win' before.

Did I break the internet?

Somthing tells me that I'm going to see those bands come up a lot.

On Topic, I'm going to say The Kinks.

No, because his opinion ain't law. And you win for liking R.E.M, so he's been disproven. :)

No, you need to be broken.
Well, that was oddly lacking in humour.

Now I'm scared.

Awesome, R.E.M. are also my favourite band (of all time, it has to be said) and are freaking amazing. Technically not amazing but there is just somthing about them which few bands have...I dunno what

Runners up include: The Red Hot Chili Pepppers, N.W.A., The Stone Roses, The Pixies, The Clash and Public Enemy

Buddy Holly is the single greatest musician of all time, Though as far as a group goes, it is the Beatles.
