Favourite Cartoon Character?

Tv show, game, movie it can be from anywhere.

I'm attempting to start up a story/comic/animation (I'm never sure.) and I want to see if there's a particular sort of character out there that a large majority go for.

I used to be into a lot of anime and I went through the fangirling Tim Burton stage and I'll never let go of The Animaniacs and Freakazoid. From the gaming world I'd have to say... Character wise I'd have to go with... Okay I can't think right now but I'll go with my default and just put Batman.

Although my best friend started researching Nobunaga Oda and the Senguko period of Japan just from playing the Dynasty Warrior games (I think it's those I'm not sure, it might be called something completely different...).

So Escapist, what character does it for you? ;D

I like the ones with the dark humor. If it's supposed to be a vaguely serious character, I enjoy them having a sad backstory that the character refuses to acknowledge in favor of smart-assery or sheer awesome-tude.

Well, I liked Grim & Evil, but that was because they used "Brains!" by Voltaire. In one of their spin off's they used "Land of the Dead" (also by Voltaire) as an intro. I like quite dark and surreal cartoons, such as Lucy: Daughter of the Devil.
