Freya Nakamichi-47 from Saturn's Children currently occupies that spot for me. I've drawn a lot of inspiration from her.

Sarah Kerrigan, formerly Queen of Blades of the Zerg Swarm.

Yes, I know what you're thinking, but that's because you haven't read the books.

Rasalom from the Adversary Cycle books by F. Paul Wilson. He's not just an evil bastard. He's the evil bastard who gets stronger every time anybody else is an evil bastard.

Me trying to pick a favourite character is like anyone else trying to pick their favourite nitrogen molecule in the atmosphere.
This. But I'll give it a try.

Games: Luigi. People always go for Mario, but as a younger brother, I can sympathize with Luigi more. But people are always going to see him as the cowardly green guy... But relax, Luigi: you'll always be the best Mario Brother to me! LUIGI FANS UNITE!

TV: ...god, how long's it been since I last watched TV?

Movies: Dom Cobb. Clever, cunning, but with emotional baggage haunting him. Deals with it by
surpressing it, yet this only causes more trouble as time goes on. All this trauma and his willingness to go through this adversity in the name of that he loves.

Comics: Daredevil. The way his world is portrayed, and his relations with all those around him, from fellow heroes to his rouge's gallery. He's consistenly in my top heroes list for a reason. I just hope Shadowland doesn't f*** up things. Like killing one of my favorite villians...

Manga: Monkey D. Luffy. Such a simple-minded person. Such lightheartedness to all around him (not counting recent chapters). Friendly to all but those who threaten his friends. I normally hate characters like this, but for some reason, I like Luffy.

Books too?

WELL then, Roland (the Gunslinger) from S. King's Dark Tower series.

The character arc for him left me speechless, and what surprised me the most was how much I could relate to his struggle.

Oh man...so hard so hard to say.
For games its probably Hector(Fire Emblem) or Samus(Metroid).

For Manga/Anime....gah so many to name...
Himura Kenshin, Tekkaman Blade, Spike S, Neji Hyuga, Alphonse Elric, No Name(Sword of the Stranger)....the list could go on.

I still need to get around to reading those. On just about every forum I frequent, there are references to the series. I haven't read much Stephen King, but The Dark Tower series seems universally popular among forumites.

So... uh... Cool! Maybe I'll have a more useful response when I make some progress on that front.

Milo Minderbinder from Catch-22 ... he personifies true evil ... not the batshit crazy, over-the-top wanker evil you see in the cesspool of what goes for 'storytelling' in the modern world.

Richard Cypher. He is not only the most in depth character I have ever seen by probably double, he is also a complete and total badass. combine that with the fact that he fights for the two virtues that i value most, and the fact that he defeats his enemies not just with brute force, and not just with intellect, but with a combination of both and i have never seen his equal in a character. He is the main character from the sword of truth series, written by Terry goodkind.

He also named himself: fuer grissa ost drauka(i think i spelled that right) which means: the bringer of death, and actually lives up to it. amazing character, amazing story, read it. read it now. I'm currenly on like, my 10th read through, as a side note.

I think Kreia from KotOR 2 was incredibly awesome. I really wish I could just have her follow me around and belittle any stupid people I may run across who happen to not understand what logic is.

Police Officer:"Sir, are you aware you just went through that red light?"
Me: "Well officer, it's midnight, I waited for two minutes before going and could see for a mile in each direction and no cars were coming, so it was pretty pointless for me to continue to wait at the light".
Officer: "Sorry, you broke the law, that will be hundreds of dollars and points on your license."
Kreia:"Yes, I'm sure we'll all be wary of empty roads from from now on. I'm certainly glad you stopped us rather than attending to your more tiresome duties like preventing murder or rape."
