Hot September Escapist,

After finding a certain snack that got discontinued in the UK 13 years ago, I have finally found my childhood memory. Combos Cheddar Cheese Pretzel, amazing and brought back so many memories.

So what are your favourite childhood snack that you either miss or still have and can't be without.

That's right I was a fat kid then and I don't care lol. :D

Mine is one I learned back in boy scouts, back when I was eight. It was called ants on a log or something. You take a piece of celery, put some peanut butter in the... ditch thingy, and then finish by putting some raisins on top. Best thing ever, especially if you are liberal with how much peanut butter and raisins you use.

Way too many to count, I have all these things flying around my head yet I can only come up with a few.

I remember this big Easter themed marshmallow thing I would get at the store, those were so amazing.

I remember dinosaur fruit snacks, they may still be around, but I haven't had them in years.

Also dinosaur themed, Chef Boyardee dinosaur pasta with meatballs, if I recall they haven't had the meatballs included in years, which is pretty depressing.

Pretty much anything at McDonalds, it's so funny how much I used to love McDonalds, it's ok now, but I rarely go there because there are so many better places to eat now.

Candy. All candy. Especially skittles.

I can't enjoy it the same way now as I did when I was little. All I can think about is how bad it is for me.

Also, supreme pizza. I can't eat it anymore, I've gone vegetarian since then...

I used to eat H-E-B brand cheddar and jalapeno potato chips. Sadly, not many chip companies make that flavor and the ones that do don't make 'em as good, so I can only get a chance to eat my favorite chips when I visit home in Texas, which isn't often. Of course I'd have to love the chips made a grocery chain that only operates in and around one single, albeit large, state. Ah well.

Lunchables. Sure, the pizza variety was a little cardboard biscuit disk, but it was TINY PIZZA! That you made yourself!

Honorable mention goes to dunkaroos. I would say s'mores, but I never had them in their purest form (missed my only chance at a campout as a kid.)

Something I saw in the supermarket that I always ate for lunch as a kid the other day were the Le Snacks crackers and cheese dip packets. It brought a smile to my face.

EDIT: Also Kinder Surprises.

Does Crayola chalk or Johnson's Baby Powder count? I know those aren't supposed to be snacks, but I pretty much had PICA when I was a kid, so they were for me. I guess I could say Loony Toons fruit snacks were a more normal childhood delight and I kinda miss those. I don't know if they still make them, but they sprung to mind when I saw this thread.

Lunchables, dunkaroos, poptarts, and I remember when you couldn't go through a single commercial break without fruit-by-the-foot making your gummy bears feel inadequate.

Also, anyone remember these?

edit: ALSO CHEESE STRINGS!

Craisins.

Oh god, I ate so many of those dried cranberries as a kid when I visited my grandma's house. I don't see them very often anymore but whenever I do I pick up a bag. It isn't the same feeling as back in those innocent days but they still taste pretty damn good.

There are two that jump to mind. The first being honey-flavored Teddy-grahams (tiny graham crackers shaped like teddy bears). The second is called 'Worms in Dirt' or 'Worms and Dirt', where gummy worms (gummy bugs are an acceptable substitution) were mixed in with crushed Oreo cookies and served in a foam cup. I have also heard of chocolate pudding being added to the cookies to make it more like mud.

Very similar to yours:

You can't get them in Ireland. The first time I tried them was also one of my first memories of travelling on a plane. Even at 5 years old I remember thinking, "cheese and peanut butter? WTF?"

Funyuns. I loved Funyuns when I was a kid. And, like a lot of you, those cheese and crackers with the little plastic stick to spread the cheese.

Errrrrrrrr. I know there was something, something I craved in droves yet it constantly eludes my failing memory.

Hmmm...

I cannot for the life of me remember at this time however I will lay claim to the delicacy that is Jello!

Banana pudding made with Nilla Wafers and slices of banana. I miss it now because I can't have it. I developed an allergy to bananas 6 years ago out of no where.
