Just like the title, what's your favourite concert you've ever been to? Mine was probably Metallica at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Canada on October 26 in 2009.
I've only been to around 9 or 10 gigs but I guess my favourite was Sabaton @ the relentless garage in London on 13/12/09. Amazing, criminally unheard of band. They outranked the performance of Fall Out Boy @ the O2 so they must be good.
It's hard to pick a favorite. A couple standouts are: Nine Inch Nails at a small club - lost my hearing for a few hours after that one; for sheer goofy fun (and good music too - Al!), NRBQ - anywhere (too many times to count actually); most moving, I think it's a tie between Leonard Cohen and Sinead O'Connor
I guess I actually had the most fun at a Black Eyed peas concert ~2004, close others are Kanye West ~2007 and 50 Cent ~2005. Can't remember in what year they were that well.
Rush in Chicago (the Midwest Bank Amphitheater in Tinley Park, to be exact) in either 2006 or 2007. We were on the lawn, being cheap college students that we were, but Rush played a great two hour show. First, stuff from Snakes and Arrows; then classics. At some point before the second set, I realized that some guys about 20 feet back of us were toking it up, and we were downwind. Got a nice little contact buzz and listened to some awesome live classic Rush.
Alice Cooper this past summer,it was just really fun,the guy knows how to put on a show.Plenty of onstage death ,plenty of laughs, and some great sing alongs.
Tally Hall. It was also the best day of my life. Second best show was Warped. In general. I saw Reel Big Fish, Andrew W.K., Streetlight Manifesto, the Dillinger Escape Plan, iwrestledabearonce, and a bunch more there in one day. It was great.
A Perfect Circle at A.J. Palumbo Center on November 18, 2003.
Single greatest concert of my life, and I've been to a ton of them.
Billy Howerdel, Maynard James Keenan, Josh Freese, Jeordie White, and James Iha...powerhouse of a concert.
They played music from: Mer de Noms: The Hollow, Magdalena, Orestes, Thinking Of You, 3 Libras, and Judith Thirteenth Step: Vanishing, Pet, Weak And Powerless, Blue, The Package, The Nurse Who Loved Me, Gravity, The Outsider, and The Noose.
Also, James Iha told two jokes:
1) How do you stop a charging rhino?
Take away its credit card
2) Where does a Penguin keep its money?
A snow bank
They also played the first part of "Fred's Got Slacks."
Finally, James and Jeordie stayed on-stage whilst the stage crew was taking it apart, and played a funny rendition of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me" and a bunch of other nonsensical stuff.
Phenomenal night, the atmosphere was great, and I even got a pick from Iha...best concert I've ever been to, and I doubt another will ever match it.
We had this thread about a week ago so I'll post here what I posted there - The Beastie Boys are the best live act in any genre I've seen to this day, and I've seen literally thousands of live bands. Saw them twice in the mid 90s and will never forget the sheer energy and insanity, I've never seen any other band go off quite like that. That's my favourite concert I've ever been to that didn't actually involve myself performing.
AFI. I saw them in Birmingham back in April and it was incredible. The crowd was fantastic, the band were full of energy and the whole thing was just electric. Loved every second of it
I've only been to a few, though one of the biggest was Roger Waters live on the football stadium in Odense, Denmark. Even then, I'd have to say Tine Dico takes the prize. Just her on the stage in front of maybe twenty-thirty people, and she swept us all away with the intimacy and quiet intensity of her song.
First was Ozzfest 2000 in Milton Keynes,England.I'd been a fan of Black Sabbath for years so getting to see the original line-up of Ozzy,Tony,Geezer and Bill play was a dream come true
Second was Judas Priest,Megadeth and Testament in Dublin last year.3 of my favourite bands on the same stage in one night
