I loved the Metallica concert here in Perth back in '98, but they weren't half bad last night at Burswood Dome either.

Also, Dark Tranquility was here about 4 years ago and they were REALLY good live.

Blur hyde park 09 it was the dogs bollocks
Woo! The one problem I had with it though is that I went on the day with Foals, Crystal Castles and 2 other bands whom I have heard nothing about since. The other day had Amadou and Mariam, Vampire Weekend, Florence and the Machine and Deerhoof.

For me though... either Sigur Ros or Jonsi at Latitude 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Both of these had low expectations. I had seen videos of Sigur Ros playing live, and it looked like an incredibly sober affair. In what I had seen, the band all sat down, didn't move at all, no frills, just them playing the music. When I saw them live however, by the end of the performance, they had about 12 people on stage, including a marching band. They were all in these elaborate costumes, they had a great light show, confetti, there was just this great energy emanating from all of them.
After that, I though Jonsi was bound to dissappoint. I hadn't heard any of his solo stuff, but I just assumed it would all be just like a stripped down version of Sigur Ros. I was so wrong. Even though the band was a lot smaller, they had an almost punkish energy to them. The drummer was wild, Jonsi just owned the stage and the rest of the band made this really dense and beautiful music. I've never heard music that managed to be both high energy and beautiful in that way.

Honorable Mention: S Club 3 at my unis Freshers Ball.

I started out with really low expectations and feeling very cynical about the whole thing. When they started playing, everyone mentally reverted to the age of about 7. Everyone was drunk, everyone knew all the words and were singing along, everyone was dancing like they couldn't give a toss. It was ridiculous fun.

I haven't really been to many concerts, I only really got into music properly a few years ago. As soon as I';ve posted this, though, I'm going to see if there are any tickets left for the Klaxons gig at the O2 Academy in Leeds at the end of November :p.

Anyway, the last gig I went to was a friend's band supporting some group from Canada (the gig was great, was in a local bar and the headline act was pretty good, my friend's group were supporting them because the original support act dropped out). If any of you want to hear my friend's band, they're called The Roy Shukers. Go listen to them. Now.

Anyway, before that I went to see Sheffield indie-rock band Reverend And The Makers, also in Leeds (at my university student union). It was amazing, the first support act wasn't any good but the second support act was an Australian group called Yves Klein Blue (anyone else heard of them? I hadn't before, though they're apparently big in Australia, and they were AWESOME!!!!!). When the main act came on I had to go to the loo, so I lost my well-earned spot right by the stage, but I managed to get a spot on the stairs to the dancefloor when I came back, and it turned out to be the best place in the entire club to stand (mainly for the great view of keyboard player Laura Manuel ;P). Right at the end, as well, frontman Jon McClure did his usual trick of walking out the front of the building and playing a free acoustic set for all the passers-by along with the crowd from the gig who followed him outside, with everyone singing along to his songs. A night I won't be forgetting in a hurry :)

I haven't been to too many concerts, but Scream Out Fest 2010 was awesome. There were several bands performing out of which Crossfaith and blessthefall really took the cake.

I can't remember what it was called, but it was a few years back and it was AMAZING.

I mean, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, The Corrs, The Chieftains, AND The Rogues of Scotland. Now that was one helluva line up.

Oh, wait... Nevermind. That's just a concert I WISH would happen...

Hmm... I'm gonna go with Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas concert. Freakin' AMAZING.

Some jazz big band played in my hometown of Gothenburg on an annual culture festival. Don't know the name; don't really care either. It was just a great moment in time, and I will always remember it.

The Prodigy's Warrior's Dance Festival in Milton Keynes on the 24 of July this year.
Greatest night of my life, I love all the bands that played and enjoyed every bit of it.
Apart from when I was sick, that was less enjoyable. And missing the Prodigy's entrance because I was having a shit.
