Jurassic Bark, obviously.

Back to Relaity from Red Dwarf. Brilliant mix of hilarious comedy and sci-fi horror.

Star One from Blake's 7. Perfect example of how to do something epic on a budget. If they've had more money to play with, it wouldn't have worked.

Death Note: Near the end of Season 1...

When Light gets his memories back and we see just how he intended to finally beat L. And L dies. No last minute save, no deus ex machina. Light wins, as fair and square as it can be when it comes to possessing supernatural powers. I loved seeing the constant game between them come to an end. So much so that I wouldn't have minded if L had won instead, just watching the build up was worth it.

G-Gundam: The finale. All in all just a good episode.

Samurai Jack: The episode where Jack and Aku fight in the cemetery. And Aku eventually gets a hold of Jack's sword.

For Sherlock, it's definitely "The Reichenbach Fall", as I'm sure Tumblr lets you know on an hourly basis that episode brings forth a lot of emotions in viewers. "The Hounds of Baskerville" is a close second.

It's a bit difficult to pick episodes from Doctor Who, but "The Girl in the Fireplace", "Army of Ghosts/Doomsday", "The End of Time", and "A Christmas Carol" are particularly memorable for me.

Batman Beyond's "Lost Soul" just because of the ways it deals with Terry without the batsuit. (I would pick an episode from Batman TAS as well, but it's even harder just to pick a select few for it as well.)

Take the basic plot of both seasons of Higurashi, condense them into a single episode, while retaining all of the awesome.

Where Saber, Rider, and Gilgamesh sit down and drink together, while debating about the what it means to be a king. That and end it with Rider completely and utterly annihilating Assassin.

For having one of the most awesome fight in an anime.

For having one of the most awesome battle scenes in a western cartoon.
Granted, I haven't seen the show in years but seen a couple of episodes recently on Boomerang, so I can't recall any other fights in the show that stood out.

All of them.

The rest of the series is meh, but GODDAMN THAT LAST EPISODE WAS AMAZING!

"No Longer Human".
Absolutely brilliant.

Ok, I wrote this some time ago as part of a blog for my website at work. I'll repost it here as it applies (and obviously agrees with many of you, which is why I love the escapist.)

10. ?Compassionate Leave? Edge of Darkness. Miniseries are TV too, and I had to give a miniseries ep at least one nod on the board. Sci-fi mini?s all popped into my head. Spielberg?s Taken, The Lost Room, Dune, and especially Tin Man; all are fantastic. But I gotta go with Edge of Darkness. Airing on the BBC in 1986, EoD has scenes that would be considered edgy even today. Great writing, great acting, and music written by the late great Michael Kamen and performed by guitar legend Eric Clapton. It?s a can?t miss.

9. "Jurassic Bark" Futurama. OK, not my favorite ep of the series. Those would be "The Farnsworth Parabox," "A Flight to Remember," or "Hell is Other Robots." But it's very notable for being a funny episode, AND joining "Brian's Song" on the list of things a man can cry while watching.

8. "Blackest Pitch" There Will Be Brawl. My favorite episode of the mini-series that proved to me that shoestring budget, web-only television could be just as good or better than anything big budget Hollywood could crank out. TWBB was epic and is still available here on the escapist.

7. "Hand of God" Battlestar Galactica. So many things came together so well in this episode. Hooked me on the series hard. Nothing like a little case of TRD (Rogues, you with me on that one?)

6. "Hush" Buffy. I have absolutely no doubt that if Firefly had continued; my "Whedon" spot on the list would have gone to an episode of Firefly. (or Joss would have gotten 2 on the list) But even with all of the other great episodes of BVTS, Angel, Dr. Horrible, and even Dollhouse to pick from I can break down this decision easy. Hush = silent episode. Balls, BRASS balls.

5. "Dreams" M*A*S*H. Hard hitting and chilling. I loved the humor in MASH, but few episodes stick with me as much as this one. No matter how hard I try, there are a few images I will never be able to get out of my head. Specifically Loretta Switt in the bloody wedding dress and the choppers waking Alan Alda (who directed this ep) up from his dream. Not many actors have the facial expression "Fear Worse Than Death/Suicidal Anguish" in their repertoire.

4. I'll say "Humbug" The X Files. So many great episodes that it's hard to give them just one, but that's all they get. So I'm giving it to Darrin Morgan's first script. Every other script he was given primary writing credits on was also on my short list for this... list. And he wrote the best episodes of Millennium as well. There were other greats in XF; "Ice," "Grotesque," "Quagmire," and more... but "Humbug" is very special. Plus it guest stars a man who played a pivotal role in the next entry on my list. So here's the Mike Anderson twofer. (or threefer)

3. "Babylon" and "Pick a Number" Carnivale. It's a 2-parter, they can be listed as one. Carnivale is my all-time favorite show so it follows that I need an episode high up on this list. And this 2-parter early on in the series showed (in shocking fashion) that this series was not screwing around.

2. "A Game of Pool" The Twilight Zone OS. There was such a talented team of writers working on TTZ that it's hard to pick a favorite. Serling and Richard Matheson are my favorites, but my favorite ep was written by George Johnson. I'd break it down, but instead I just say watch the episode. No matter what your favorite genre of television is, "A Game of Pool" is guaranteed to satisfy.

1. "City on the Edge of Forever" Star Trek OS. These days this ep seems kind of like a hack premise in several ways. But the truth is, this episode MADE those themes a hack premise. This is what sci-fi time travel episodes all WANT to be. And none of them stand up this tall.

Lots of things already mentioned... also Red Dwarf's "White Hole" and more recently the Game of Thrones (hah! this season should have been called A Clash of Kings, dammit!) episode "Blackwater". Seeing the Battle of the Blackwater come to life (despite a few simplifications and rewrites)... and the wildfire... maybe I'm just easily impressed.

Cowboy Bebop: Jupiter Jazz parts 1 and 2, such well written episodes and the ending music is amazing.

Game of Thrones: Both of the series have maintained extremely high quality throughout so it would be hard to pick a favourite.

Mad Men - "Public Relations" S4 E1

Simply for this scene, where Don Draper is giving an interview about how he pretty much saved the agency from ruin.

It's just... so.... BADASS!

The Wire is amazing because of how the entire series threads together; but if I had to choose a particular episode it might be the penultimate ep of Season 1, "Cleaning Up", for the death in that ep was truly tragic.

Overall I felt a bit disappointed by Game of Thrones' second season but HOLY SMOKE! was the Battle of Blackwater brilliant! Mad Men has too many amazing episodes to choose from; I tend to particularly like the episodes where Pete gets belittled.

I personally prefer the ones where he gets beaten up.

Burn Notice: The episode where Michael pretends to be the devil, blowing up things by snapping his fingers. I can't for my life remember what it's called.

This. It was awesome.

The first episode of the original Pokemon series.

The episode of Hogans Heroes where the SS bring a shipment of gold bricks into Stalag 13 for safekeeping, and Hogan and his crew replace them with gold painted bricks.

Born Free - Dexter Season 1.

Episode 2, Season 3 of The Chaser's War on Everything.

I'll probably think of more.

Seems I'm in the heavy minority as I've never found Blink to be particularly great.

Anyways one of my favourite Who episodes was definitely Utopia. I felt the acting was all around great, especially between Tennant and Jacobi. The plot was very well done too, with a superb culmination of the hints being given throughout that series.

Others I really liked were Midnight, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Boom Town, Human Nature/Family of Blood, 42 and The Waters of Mars.

As far as other shows go, I don't tend to know the names of the individual episodes shown, oddly it's only Who that I do.
