Edit: Actually, I prefer the lightning in Super Mario Kart.

wow, its a hard desition. I'd have to go either with the fire flower of mario, which just makes everything easier, or the cape flower in mario world. Or any of the transformation masks in majora's mask

Gradius Gaiden's Guard-type Shield. Yeah, I can hear the 'buh?' already. Gradius being a shmup series, the Guard is possibly the most useful shield in it seeing as with it on you only have to worry about the enemies and not smacking into the terrain. Best. Shield. Ever.

Not the first to say it, but I stand by it. The Hammer from Super Smash Bros. The combination of the music and beating the crap out of everyone with a giant hammer. Winner in my book hands down. Especially when the hammer is being wielded by some tiny annoying character like Pikachu or Kirby.
