Favourite Game Intros

So i was recently replaying Resident Evil Directors Cut and watching the marvelously shit intro sequence, and it got me thinking about what other game intros i love for whatever reason.

So here's a few of my favourites. What are yours?

(If we could spoiler tag vids for those with low bandwidth, that'd be nice. Not essential though.)

Spoiler: The aforementioned Marvelously Shit intro of Resi 1

Spoiler: Final Fantasy VIII has IMO possibly one of the greatest intros of all time

Spoiler: Some of the best voice acting in a game and a cinematic intro like no other for Soul Reaver

Spoiler: Wipeout had an intro that sticks in my mind

Spoiler: This bit from Mass Effect 2 always struck me as cool as hell

Spoiler: Similar to the ME2 one is the recent addition of Deus Ex; Human Revolution

Spoiler: G Police was the first game i played where the intro convinced me i'd spent my money well

Spoiler: Rock Band 1&2 Had superb intros that always make me smile

Spoiler: The completely silly but fun intro to Omega Boost. (I'll take a Norma Jean!)

Spoiler: Who could forget the intros to the Silent Hill games?

Spoiler: How about the amazing Bond-esque intro to MGS3?

That's all i can remember for now but i'll probably put more up in edits. Looking forward to your choices!

Completely forgot about these but it brought a wave of nostalgia to watch them again.

Spoiler: Breath of Fire 4, god, do i miss this game.

Spoiler: Grandia. This music brings back so many memories.

Spoiler: The Star Ocean games. Just epic.

Spoiler: ShenLong was easily my best character in Bloody Roar 2

Spoiler: Armored Core 4 Answer. So, so pretty.

Spoiler: Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion was a kick ass intro.

The 2 that come to my mind atm are, Homeworld (Plus HW2) and Bayonetta (which had a great ending too)

The best game intro of all time for me has to be Gran Turismo. Everytime i put that game in, i always watch the intro, and it never fails to give me goosebumps.

for some reason, I liked the one in Bioshock 2 more than in the original one

I loved the Dynasty Warriors 5 intro just because I got to see my favourite character kicking ass.


Unfortunately I couldn't find one in really good quality. Also I agree with you on the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver intro. Loved that one.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, for sure. Even though I've played the game again and again, I still on occasion let the intro run its course, for it is just that awesome. Especially the bit with Deadpool and Morrigan. It's just so pretty to look at.

I'd hate to say it nothingsprings, but a lot of those intros you showed are drawn-out and low quality.

its because they are mostly from playstation games, back before we had plenty of space on a disk for video, they were rather low res and quality then also

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best I have seen. I also love the intro for Conker's Bad Fur Day and Mass Effect 1 had a great intro as well.

Can't think of any others but apparently this is the intro to Star Wars:The Old Republic...

In this case...it's the best intro ever!

To this day my favourite remains the one for Thief: The Dark Project. Just so damned stylish.


Gotta say though that the intro clip for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was mind-bogglingly well done.


Even if you have no interest in WOW or haven't played any of the previous Warcraft games that's still just a compelling little piece of visual and narrative right there.
