Oddworld - been a favorite series of mine ever since I played Oddysee back in the late 90s with my friend. I love it for its dark yet bizarre yet lighthearted feel and humor. The atmosphere is probably the best I've ever felt in a game.

Metal Gear Solid - I fell in love with Snake ever since I watched my dad run across the helipad (once again in the late 90s). I almost forgot about it until my mom came home with a copy of Metal Gear Solid 2 for me. Since then, I've followed it closely, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is one of the best games I've ever played. I love it for its gameplay, its music and most importantly the STORY!

Sonic the Hedgehog - My first real console was a Gamecube, and with it came a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Needless to say, I was hooked. I recently picked up a copy of Sonic Generations, and it's a lot of fun. [small][small][small]I want a Shadow 2![/small][/small][/small]

Mortal Kombat - yet ANOTHER favorite from the late 90s. I dig the over the top gore, I dig the characters and story, and most importantly, I love how you can FINISH HIM!

inFAMOUS - What can I say? It's fun to be the bad guy; it's fun being a ruthless lightning and fire powered anti hero.

I'm stuck between kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect, or Persona. Really, I like any series with characters and a story I can get invested in.

my favorite is the Tales Of series, with its quality blend of story telling, deep characters, and real time action combat, what is there not to love?

I have a few of them:

Metroid: My first real gaming love. Every game in this series fills me with joy just to think about (with the one obvious exception). To this day I get chills when I hear some of the songs, and I try to replay the Primes at least once a year. I even got my copy of Prime autographed by Jennifer Hale (Samus).

Sly Cooper: Similar to Metroid, these are my childhood. Always fun, and a nice change of pace from all of the gritty games of today.

Dead Space (yes, even 3, and the rail shooter): For some reason, I love these games. The aesthetic, the creature design, the storyline. I even enjoy the books. Of series originating from this gen, this is my favorite.

No one has said Fire Emblem. By far my favorite game in the series is Awakening, followed by Sacred Stones and Path of Radiance.
Also, gotta love Bioshock.

Borderlands: While the original was enjoyable, I had a true blast with the sequel. I find the writing amusing an witty and in each game I find classes that are incredibly fun to play.

The Arkham games: Mechanically solid and fun, great way to capture you feeling empowered as Batman should, the awesome atmosphere, the riddles which are entertaining, the great psychiatric interview tapes, I love it all.

I saw someone name KOTOR, I'm not sure if we can call that a series anymore by now, since it's just two games and it doesn't look like it's going to be continued anytime soon. However, I found them amazing at the time and no less than a month ago I replayed KOTOR II with the restored content mod and if you allow yourself to be grabbed by the atmosphere, it's still enjoyable today.

The GTA series, while I like the different games for different qualities, I've enjoyed all of them in at least some way since GTA II. And I can't help but be hyped again for the new one :)

And I'll cheat and put Bayonetta, it's about to get sequelized, loved the original (and the studio) and it makes the Wii U haunt my dreams and one day I might give in and actually get one for that game mostly...

Myst.

Not only did it take a great concept and actually do things with it (OK, maybe not quite as much as they could in the second game), it did those things REALLY DAMN WELL.

Despite having little replay value, Myst Online is still one of my favorite games, and definitely my favorite "MMO" (you have to play it to understand it).

Every game (except the second one) dragged you through a series of gorgeous and unique worlds riddled with fun and mostly organic logic puzzles. And even though the second game took place mostly on one world (with a couple trips to a mind-blowing second one), it made up for it by making it the most well-defined and interesting world. It really is a thing of beauty, and every game was positively jaw-droppingly gorgeous when it was released (OK, maybe not Myst V), and Myst IV still remains the most beautiful AND graphically competent game I have ever witnessed. It looks better than Crysis, if admittedly lower-res.

These aren't static environments, either. All of these have full environmental effects.

...In 2004, people!

Sure, Myst IV kind of poo'd itself plotwise at the end, but it's a small blip on an otherwise mindblowing series.

Also, Myst III had Brad Dourif.

That is all.

Kingdom Hearts-Amazing combat, decent story and boss fights that were challenging and fun (Sephiroth in both games and Riku)

Batman Arkham Games Combat is awesome, stealth is so much fun, and nothing makes me giggle harder than stealthing around an area, picking off guards one by one and stringing them up for their last screaming comrade to see before a black shadow blocks out the last light source and covers his vision. Fear. I love these games!

Serious Sam I've yet to play 3, but 1 and 2 are so cathartic and so much fun with a friend Co-op. Nothing tests a friendship like being on Serious Difficulty and frantically trying to cover the other player as they hunt for ammo and armor and then switching places while whittling the enemy hordes down to nothing. Good times

Diablo Yes, i'm going to get crap for this but I thoroughly enjoyed 3. Not the RMAH or the AH. I have personally only used them 1 time and that was to help a buddy replace his weapon. I enjoy the group aspect. Plus taking down Diablo on Inferno with my monk and my buddies under-geared Barb was insanely fun. I was constanly refreshing my cooldowns and popping my heal+Invincibility spell whenever it came up to keep us both alive. 2 still is one of the few PC games i've spent over 500 hours on. It consumed my time while i was recovering from a broken bone.

Star Trek Armada These are brilliant RTS games, and everyone should play them. Story lines are good and feel fleshed out, unit management/creation is satisfying almost to the point of being illegal and multiplayer skirmishes online are an indecent amount of fun. LAN gaming nights, i still pull these amazing games out and my friends and i will be up til the wee hours of the morning clashing and harvesting materials and making desperate grabs for uncharted parts of space in the hopes that we can mine 300 more dilithium to build the lynch-pin of our armada.

Devil may Cry 1-3 No, i didn't enjoy 4 all that much. The backtracking for the last half of the game as Dante wasn't fun or engaging for me. Nero was a stupid main character and honestly it bored me. 3 has the best combat system for me (Trickster all the way) and 1 and 2 were some of the first action combat games i ever played on my PS2.

EDIT:
Also, i just remembered:
Ys I love these games, the combat, the story, the characters, the weapons and monsters, the environments. The very first time i played an YS game was on my PsP. I spent so much time just running around and beating the be-jesus out of monsters and the boss fights require skill and timing! ITS INCREDIBLE. Granted, going back and playing 1 and 2 makes me feel stupid. You run into enemies to damage them? Thats just not a good idea. Still fun and the story helps it along. But if you haven't played any of the YS games:
GO.
DO.
IT.
RIGHT.
NOW.

For me its Splinter Cell. The only series where I've beaten all of them and fairly soon after acquiring them. (except Pandora Tomorrow, that was a travesty)

I also have gotten all the Silent Hills when they came out but I've yet to beat one since 4. They just don't hold my interest the way they used to.

I would have to say my favorite as of late is the inFamous series. Both games were solid, fun, well designed games, with a good plot, good voice acting (yes I liked inFamous 1's Cole voice thank you very much). Good atmosphere, fun powers, good progression. I actually GAVE a shit about those pixelated people in my city that I was defending from the forces of evil. When they started to fight beside me in battle (and let me tell you, an angry mob of 15 npcs hurling rocks is a DEADLY combo)I felt like I was actually making a difference in the game world. When a good samaritan ran up to me while I was arresting a bad guy, to tell me someone needed help, that they were dying, and then he was promptly sniped in the head by a gang thug. This actually got a true emotional reaction out of me, I was FURIOUS, how DARE that thug kill one of MY people just trying to help someone else!!! I hunted that thug down and drank his soul for revenge. The inFamous 2 game was even better, the good ending made me cry uncontrollably. So yeah, so far I think they are some of the best games ever.

The other series I love is the Thief series, and I don't have to explain why. It's Theif, you get why it's awesome, or you don't. ^_^

My very favourite right now is Mass Effect. I have many other series that come close, but the character interaction in this game just puts it above the rest for me, it's also the first shooting game i really loved.

The elder scrolls is better when it comes to exploration and dynasty warriors is better for just killing things.

Kingdom Hearts, hands down, for all eternity.

I just love everything about the franchise. Every game is beautiful (even Days and Re:coded have a certain charm), the combat was good and only gets better with each new iteration, the music is phenomenal, and like any good RPG, the plot just sucks me in.

There's no way I could love this series more. I've spent so many hours of my life playing, replaying and trying to 100% them all. Soon speedrun attempts will bump that up even further.

I really cannot recommend this series more to someone. If you haven't tried it, you should rethink your life.

Runner-up would probably be Spyro the Dragon. But only the PS1 and GBA games (barring Spyro Orange, which was atrocious).

EDIT: Also Sly Cooper, because that shit's just great and I can't tell you how many times I've replayed Band of Thieves.
