2 minutes 37 seconds in. I feel like he should be playing on his knees whilst rising up on a giant pedestal out of the stage.

Solos... Well I'm a big fan of all of Slash's solos, the entirety of the guitar-work on Appetite For Destruction is awesome. Mark Morton from Lamb Of God has an awesome bluesy style for a metal guitarist, like the solo for Walk With Me In Hell.

But there are so many damned solos to choose from... Riffs though, my two favourites are I Am The Law and Caught In A Mosh

Anthrax have to be my favourite band ever...

Favourite solo? Well off the top of my head, the solo in a farewell to arms is pure epicness:
Starts at 7:11

I couldn't possibly pick a favourite riff though. Way too many...

Mr. Big - Green Tinted Sixties Mind (riff)

In fact, anything by Paul Gilbert, pretty much.

Favourite solo would have to be this - the second solo, 3:54 onwards:

...all the more impressive because I don't care about anything else Ozzy has ever done, or metal as a whole if I'm completely honest.

And, of course, it'd be rude of me not to add this, which I still consider to be humanity's greatest musical achievement (and no, I don't care to justify that point, thanks):

Maggot Brain is my favorite solo of all time. Eddie Hazel is superb.

Favorite riff, probably Evie Part 1.

oh man, there's so many! Off the top of my head, favourite riff would be:

With a Thousand Words to Say by One, by Darkest Hour

or Zombie Autopilot, by Unearth

And as for a solo, I just can't look beyond Selkies: the Endless Obsession, by Between the Buried and Me (solo starts at about 4:20 or so, and builds up steadily)

Actually, just any riff and solo by Between the Buried and Me is pure awesomeness. I pick all their songs.

Pretty much the whole of "Hysteria" by Muse
<youtube=VgxgNkppVLo>
Especially that bass.
Well that's the first one I could think of anyway.
