I love my shotguns! F.E.A.R. 1's shotgun, you can get a head shot from 2 rooms away... Getting multi-kills with the shotgun in Halo is always fun too. :p

Silenced pistols, except if it's a silent pea shooter. Yes, I'm looking at you, Fallout 3.
Also, stakegun from Painkiller.

Blue Gravity Gun and Turbo Plasma Rifle in all its glory but for me it's all about versability. Therefore I have too say that my fav gun is the M4A1 SOPMOD from CoD 4.

The Springfield Armory's Operator from MGS4 is an in game gun with a lot of character to it.

Honorable mention since i've talked about MGS, The Heckler & Koch Mark 23 "SOCOM" from MGS1 & 4. A lot of history with that running around Shadow Moses.

A few from fallout 3, the laser Rifle, Lincoln's repeater, the lever action rifle and the Alien blaster.
From Gears of war, the Lancer.
From Bioshock, the handgun when fully upgraded.

The "lol" gun (tommy gun) from Bioshock. Just because it applies to any situation. (you have to upgrade the gun fully before the glowing "lol" appears tho)

Oh, and any gun with the chainsaw from Gears of War. ^^ No better way to dismember someone with entertaining results.

Painkillers Stake Gun. Yes I prefer it over the 'shurikens and lightening' gun simply because it can nail enemies to the wall. And it doubles as a grenade launcher. I have yet to see a nailgun more awesome than that one, although Fallout's Railway Rifle comes close. WOOWOO!!! Good times.

Kinda hard to pick just one though, so many I'd love to add... L4D's pump action shottie for example. It's simple, it's a classic, and it never lets me down.

Aaaa yes, a while ago I played GoW while I had plugged my mp3 in the Xbox. Then I turned Tiny Tim's Living in the Sunshine on a loop and kept chainsawing Locusts. I giggled non-stop, that song in combination with gory action...golden entertainment.

Lever-Action Rifle.

POW! Click. POW! Click.
I'm assuming you enjoy it more than the Lincoln Repeater because of the ammo.

In-game, an L85A1 can be perfectly reliable. IRL, they had to reinforce it because holding it too tight stopped the action moving, the lifter platforms in the magazines tended to tilt and jam, the magazine release catch had to have a shield added so people wouldn't accidentally drop the mag, the locking spline arrangement makes it impossible to clean properly, the gas plug's little springy nipple is just the right size to go down the gas port and turn it into a manual-feed weapon, it's only held together by two pins so it gets loose and flexes along those lines, the fire selector's in a really awkward place and occasionally fails to auto, the working parts release catch tends to come off, the safety only stops the trigger, not the hammer, the sights are too far back and put notches in your eyebrows and scratches in the lenses of your respirator (gas mask to the rest of the world), the front sling loop is exactly in the way of your thumb, the top cover's a sod, the "flash hider" or tumble eliminator or whatever it's meant to be is nothing but a nuisance to clean and the ejection port's tiny ...

... but it'll put a 15cm diameter group into a target at 300m.

The A2 upgrade is supposed to make them a lot better.

Have you seen the L86? It's like the L85 but with a longer, heavier barrel, a girder under that, a bipod, a stubby front grip, a rear grip and a shoulder loop. They call it a light support weapon but it's basically an LMG.

One of each:

L85A1 with a 20.4" (518mm) barrel is 30.9" (785mm) long, whereas the M16A2 with its 20" (508mm) barrel is 39.6" (1,006mm) overall. [http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/SA80.htm] The short-barrelled M4 carbine version of the M16 is 33" (840mm) overall, or 760mm (29.9") with the telescoping butt collapsed, but to achieve this means shortening the barrel to 14.5" (368mm). In other words, the M16 can only match the L85A1 in length by losing six inches (150mm) from its barrel and having its stock collapsed. To give another comparison, the L86A1 LSW has a 25.4" (646mm) barrel but is considerably shorter than the M16A2 at only 35.4" (900mm) overall.
Much discussion of issues there, and they get their own pages on a Russian site: Weight: 7.3 kg empty, with SUSAT optical sight [http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg37-e.htm] for the LSW, compared to the M16A1's 2.89kg [http://world.guns.ru/assault/as18-e.htm]. Okay, so that's LMG to rifle, but still ...
