Well I know there's a fair few metal enthusiasts on the ol' escapist so I expect there are a fair few Iron Maiden fans here. Iron Maiden have released a LOT of albums over the years and they are undoubtedly one of the oldest and biggest bands still going. So I was wondering what album was your fave. Polls are a bit useless when there have been so many, though I expect certain albums will be chosen more than others *cough cough* Number of the Beast *cough*. So which, out of the myriad of albums released over the years is your fave and why. This includes Edward the great and all the live albums (and Rock in Rio should you choose).

Mine has to be Powerslave, mostly for the song. I like the heavy chords at the beginning of the song and repeated later on as well as the quite relaxed solo. It also has the classics Aces High and 2 minutes to midnight.

(If you're wondering why I chose to make this thread now it's because I've recently got into a Iron Maiden obsession atm, also a bottle of wine makes me want to make threads... :p)

I really loved Live After Death. I had the double LP when I was a kid and it was awesome. I would say Brave New World got me back into Maiden. I loved the Wickerman, and it was great when Bruce and Adrian came back. I was never very fond of Janick, especially watching him jump around on stage, and when Bruce left I was pretty much done with them. Although I did love the song Futureal.

Possibly Death on the Road, which was recorded in 2005 when Maiden played at Dortmund. They played some of their most memorable songs like The Trooper and Hallowed Be Thy Name with a number of other songs they released from their 2003 album "Dance of Death" which included Journeyman, Rainmaker and Wildest Dreams.

Favourite studio album....probably Brave New World, because i love the final two songs Out of the Silent Planet and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Dream of Mirrors is also a good song.

I love the Death On The Road live album, but Powerslave is probably my favorite. Aces High is just... amazing. I must say, I also love Iron Maiden because it sounds so raw, especially Charlotte The Harlot, which also contains some of the more disgusting lyrics I've heard;

"Charlotte the harlot let me see blood
charlotte to the harlot let me see love"

Obviously Number Of The Beast is a favourite, although I'm a bit over a lot of those songs due to overexposure. I also loved Seventh Son when it came out, that album still have some of my favourite Maiden songs.

I think Piece Of Mind is highly underrated. Powerslave has great standout tracks but a lot of filler if you ask me. Does anyone really like "Losfer Words"?

There'll always be a special place in my heart for the Paul Di'anno albums, even though they're not the best, the punkier vocals form a kind of link (albeit tenuous) in my mind between Maiden and some of the third wave of punk that was happening in England at the time like Anti-Nowhere League, G.B.H., The Exploited etc. which I'm also fairly fond of.

I was also really happy when Brave New World came out because they got rid of that twit from Wolfsbane and got Bruce back in - smartest thing the band ever did. That's a really strong album.

I don't listen to whole albums by them (I have Best of the Beast and the Flight 666 OST), but Fear of the Dark and 2 Minutes to Midnight are my favourites, so what albums those are on.
