Favourite JRPG playable character?

Can't really say I have a definite favorite so here's a large list of some of my more favored ones

Tales series:
Lloyd from Symphonia
Jade from Abyss
Yuri or Raven from Vesperia

Final Fantasy:
Auron from X
Most of the cast of IX
No one from VIII (though I liked Leon in KH)
Cid and Vincent from VII (the first because I drank my goddamn tea and the second because he seemed pretty cool appearance wise)

SMT:
Every Player Character
The entire cast of Digital Devil Saga (including the guy with the out of place Jamaican accent because it was so random at the time it got me to laugh despite the story being practically depressing at that point)

Xenosaga:
chaos, Ziggy, and arguably Jr.

Rogue Galaxy:
Jaster, Zegram, Steve, and Simon

Legend of the Dragoon:
Dart, Kongol, Lavitz, and Rose

Aya from Parasite Eve

And Sora from KH

Joachim from Shadow Hearts: Covenant. He's a luchadore wrestler vampire who gains new weapons by finding large objects in the environment and picking them up (highlights include a statue, an I-beam and a park bench) and gains new abilities by earning new wrestling alter-egos.

Honorable mention goes to Drachma from Skies of Arcadia for being cyborg Captain Ahab.

More JRPGs need to forgoe stereotypes and include these kinds of characters.

It's a 3 way tie between Terra of FF6,for being me with a vagina and magic powers,Virgina Maxwell(WA3) for good character development and Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vespeira for being an awesome badass.

Special mention should go to the casts of P3/4,the remaining casts of WA3 and FF6 and Tear from Tales of the Abyss for being so darned cute

Wakka? He was terrible with his faux Jamaician accent. As for fft I loved how they made you jump through so many hoops to get Cloud and when you finally do he is rubbish. Great game though finished War of the Lions a couple of months ago. Looking forward to the new Tactics Ogre big time.

 

[Defense]

Nier, Sazh Katzroy, Auron, and Zack Fair.

Nier is a great father figure, and Sazh is the awesome skeptical old guy who manages to avoid many black stereotypes sans the 'fro. Auron is so badass, killing him only managed to piss him off. Zack is just an upbeat, charming guy stuck in a world with depression everywhere.

Special mentions are Snow and Hope, who actually aren't half bad once their characters develop. I left Final Fantasy VI out of this because I didn't want to put 10+ obvious characters on the list.

On a tiny island somewhere off the coast, you are wandering around in a forest, looking for monsters to kill. Suddenly, you run into a strange worm, that sucks up your entire party! However, you didn't die, and instead you find yourself in an odd cave. After looking around for a bit, you run into a strangely dressed person. You can't quite make out if it's a man or a woman, and it appears to be a very old person. Your conversation goes like this:

Strange person: "Hello, might I ask who you are?"

You: "We're [name], and we're trying to save the world, but we got lost."

Strange person: "Saving the world? That sounds like and interesting thing to do. My name is Gogo, and I will now join you on your quest to save the world."

I love Gogo. It has a somewhat silly introduction, but its outfit looks great, and it can do everything all your other characters can! You love Mash's deathblow ability? Gogo can do it. Or Edgar's machine command? No problem, Gogo knows how to use a chainsaw. Or maybe you have messed up your esper training a little and spread out spells over too many characters? Don't worry, Gogo knows them all.

This Gogo is from Final Fantasy VI.

Yeah that was a bizzare way to introduce a character but ffvi had a lot of crazy characters. Gau the feral child, the yeti and his mog master, the girl with the paint brush?! That was just plain weird when you think about.

 

[Awexsome]

Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia for me because he's not only a badass... but a relatable, BELIEVABLE badass. You don't see that much around anywhere.

Second goes to Squall though because my girlfriend loves him the most and considers me about a mirror image of him. I don't disagree.

i can't decide. there's so many i like and such a "black and white" secinaro for a hell of a lot for me.

The man is a true bro and one of the best characters in JRPGs.
