Evil Genius- everyone wants to be a bond villain
Morrowind- Mods can turn it into a whole new game.
C&C red alert 1+2 - nuff said
age of empires- good times when mate wonders why 20 villagers are working overtime cutting the forest right by his walled off city.
MOH:AA
BF:1942- 62 man tank battle, few things are more awesome on-line than that.

Marathon 2 :* ft ultimate epic w
Wow...never expected anyone to say that, but its true. Marathon was awesome...maybe BUNGIE should start making more of those and not more of that other game.....
In fairness Halo was kind of a remake of the marathon series. Fighting aliens on ships and planetside? An AI helping you along the way? To be a technical ass, Bungie stated that halo and marathon are not related and are totally different universes, but to be fair they also claimed that they weren't working on H3 and many other things that were later turned on their heads.
Alex Seropian stated in the past that the protagonist from Halo and marathon are one and the same so we will just have to wait and see what's going on.

EDIT: And, god yes Marathon was a fucking AWESOME series :*

Having grown up with an old Vectrex unit and an Intel 486 PC, I don't consider anything after the PS1/N64 days as "old." Crap, is this what getting older feels like?

I sunk countless hours into X-Wing and Tie Fighter as a kid. I wasn't very good at them, so I played with invincibility and unlimited ammo on. When I got older I figured out how to manage your ship's energy levels, so I replayed them without cheats.

2002... considered old. I feel like remains of dinosaur. I still regularly play 2000 games.

To not make overly long list, just the ones i have freshest memories of:
Dungeon Keeper 1, Syndicate, The Longest Journey, X-COM: UFO Defense (or UFO: Enemy Unknown depending on region), Jagged Alliance, Transport Tycoon, Fallout, Planescape: Torment ... i could go on like that all the way from 1990 really, i still play plenty of those games every now then thanks to DOSBox.

Rollercoaster Tycoon.
It's like crack, but on a computer.
Screw Peggle.
Peggle isn't old.

Anyway.

Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Homeworld.
Theme Park.
Ceasar.
Civilisation.
Sim City 2000.

They really don't make those "empire building" games like they used to. If they do at all.

christ, some of the games you guys are listing I would hardly call "old".

OT: A tie between X-com: UFO defense and Baldur's Gate 2. Both great games that have held up very well.

Kudos to Valve for having the entire X-com series available on steam, and kudos to atari for re-releasing all the baldur's gates, now vista compatible. I love you both.
