Other that I havent tested:
Any of the Total War games (listed below)
Shogun: Total War
Mediewal: Total War
Rome: Total War
Mediaval 2: Total War
Empire: Total War
Napoleon: Total War
Shogun 2: Total War
I'm a total war fan myself, but I would have to say that Total War isn't exactly an RTS that's in the same vein as Command and Conquer Age of Empires, or Rise of Nations. I've always considered RTS to mean that your production and combat are managed in the same environment. I heartily enjoy the way Total War does what it does, but it isn't in the same field as C&C. It's like asking the New Orleans Saints to compete for the Stanley Cup.

I forgot about SoaSE but it is actually one of my favorite PC games.

The reason I like Anno is because I rarely play it and I usually am playing with friends so that keeps it interesting for me.

Command and Conquer: Generals, C&C 3: Kanes Wrath, Company of Heroes and Age of Empires would be my recommendations.

Also look into World in Conflict.
It seems a little advanced to begin with, but is one of the most amazing games around.

If you want a game with a good sense of scale and epicness you can't go past Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
Best map and macro systems I've every seen in a RTS. With 500+ plus units on each side.

C&C, C&C: Red Alert.
Quoted because 1. great games & 2... you have the best title ever! XD

OT:

C&C: Generals was pretty good IMO (played a long time ago though).

Also, if you can get dual monitor config, then play Supreme Commander. Some of the battles can get pretty epic. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed WH40K: Dawn of War, especially Dark Crusade.

And to reiterate, the TW series is awesome, though not strictly speaking RTS (TBS/RTT hybrid).

Age of Empires, definitely.... then Starcraft, because that game is amazing.

Other not so well known that I enjoyed are
Armies of Exigo (because this was the first RTS I had to lower the difficulty from normal to easy just to win the first mission)- pretty generic, but very solid game
Battle Realms- It's set in Asia and has a pretty interesting mechanic of training your soldiers :)

Yeah now that you say it, it came up to me that its a RTT like World in Conflict, since you never macro any building or resorces!

Precisely, the first Dawn of War and it's expansions were RTS games while Dawn of War 2 was more of a RTT game. That is a good acronym for the difference, and RTS (Real Time Strategy) has the resource building in the battlefield, all of it Real Time, while the Total War style is turn based resources, but the Tactical combat is Real Time, a Real Time Tactical game.

The dawn of war series is great, especially if your into 40K universe.
Other then that the Total War series is probably the best RTS series that I've played or at least enjoyed the most.
