Someone told me about Tarkovsky, and he sounded really interesting. I haven't actually seen any of his movies yet, but apparently they're all available online for free. Legally for once. I'll check stalker out when I get the chance.Ezekiel said:I prefer Stalker. Sci-fi by the same director, not as tedious. I still need to (restart and) finish Solaris.Fox12 said:I've heard Solaris is a strong contender. I'll be watching that next.
That is a great movie, and it is for sure scifi.FluffehFoxEM said:I believe the movie that I'm looking for is called Pandorum, I've watched it plenty of times and more than sure it falls into the Sci-fi category. Don't really know what drew me to it besides it being on TV at one point or another, definitely a different take on things that I've seen before. Depends on what you like though but I definitely enjoyed it to a point, I wouldn't say it's my all time favourite but it was definitely good and one of them. Different opinions on it though.
And they are now on my list.Ezekiel said:Stalker. Solaris
Oh, so THAT's where the music for the Aliens: Colonial Marines trailer came from.Extra-Ordinary said:
For days, weeks even.
Halfway because of the score honestly, the theme stands as one of my favorite pieces of music EVER, and the rest is just so darn atmospheric.
Exactly right.Hawki said:Oh, so THAT's where the music for the Aliens: Colonial Marines trailer came from.

Video isn't working for me, but I managed to find it elsewhere. That's an...interesting, combination. Most of the trailers tend to use quite optimistic music, and it certainly doesn't really fit the scene in question.Extra-Ordinary said:Anyway.
Welcome to Lunar Industries was also used for The Iron Lady.
I've heard that Meryl Streep is good but otherwise the movie's kind of just okay at best.
I guess this ominous song is somewhat of a warning sign...
Or not, it's just been attached to one bad thing, one okay thing, and one really really good thing.
Timecrimes [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480669/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1] maybe? Really liked that one.Xsjadoblayde said:There was this weird European time-travel film I saw once, was quite mesmerising even if low budget. Have no idea what it was called though.
Right, good one. I've completely ignored animated movies, but Akira would definitely be up there, together with Paprika, Ghost in the Shell and Wall-E.Ezekiel said:A little disappointed no one mentioned Akira. I like to watch it every couple of years, most recently today. It's such a crazy, stylish experience.
Metropolis is totally good! Great production design especially. It occupies a weird spot in popular film history, in that it seems to be the most famous/seen silent film, and it's my opinion that it's far from the best. It meanders a bit, and the smaller scenes don't have as much pull to them as the spectacle-driven stuff. Still definitely worth seeing though.Skatalite said:There's a couple I still have to see though, like Stalker, Solaris and Metropolis (anyone here seen it?).
