The only singleplayer game I have that's not PS3 exclusive is Arkham Asylum, though it's a pretty damn good game, so you should definetly get it!

The campaign in the first Homeworld was pretty epic

So was Homeworld 2's if you've never played HW or HW:C. Especially for the fucking shoop da woop cannon mounted the front of Sajuuk.

BRING SAJUUK TO BEAR!

In my opinion, Shadow of the Colossus has the best single player campaigns of all time. However, if we're talking next-gen titles, then my votes go to Batman: Arkham Asylum and GTA IV.
i'm disappointed that i haven't played shadow... i don't have a ps2 anymore due to unforseen breakages so i missed out on it.

Oh damn I'm going to have to say Halo. Though specifically I mean the first one so it doesn't really help in the search for a new game.

For 360 itself I'll go with Mass Effect (though I'm hoping that'll be left in the dust as soon as Dragon Age: Origins comes out).
is the campaign in halo 3 any good cos i heard it's a bit of a letdown on the whole.
Everyone says it is but I actually found it quite fun. Careful though, any mention of Halo is like Cookies and Cream Icecream to trolls.

I'll just go with current-gen to make things easier, and because I missed some gems last gem but I think I can say I'm more or less up to speed this gen:

-Bioshock
-Modern Warfare
-Oblivion
-Batman: Arkham Asylum
-Super Mario Galaxy (seriously, it's really fun when you're not trying to rush through it, and it's challenging when you go for all 120 stars)
-Endless Ocean

Yes, I'm tacking on one at the end that many people might not agree with, but I really liked that game a lot, and it was (basically) single-player only, and while the story wasn't the best, the game itself was a lot of fun.
