It's hard to beat a Lewis Black rant, it's both funny and poignant.

I like Jim Gaffigan too, he's not that poignant, but he's got Waffle House's number.
I call him the Lazy Comic. He's funny because he basks in his laziness. I'd almost be envious, if I didn't want to be known as a famous couch potato.

You guys probably dont know Hans Teeuwen. Though he did do a few english sketches wich kind of sucked. He's good at starting incredibly awkward and offensive subjects that make you feel guilty for laughing, and still do it in a tastefull way. No, scrap that, this guy is incredibly good at being a blunt instrument. Some people are really offended by his material and they have every right to. He's also a skilled jazz singer.

Patton Oswalt;

He is tiny and hilarious... and his small stature only accentuates his hilarity.
I feel confident that the only reason anybody likes him, is because he's admittedly a huge nerd. I don't know that I've ever laughed at anything he's ever done, ever.

I can't believe Frankie Boyle has only been mentioned once. I know he hasn't done a massive deal of stand up, but on mock the week, he is something else although I'm certain he probably offends as many people as he makes laugh.

Always liked Jack Dee as well, very much a fan of his grumpy man style.

I've personally met the guy and he is hilarious. He is just a legitimately funny person.

Bill Maher and Lewis Black are hilarious. The one time John Waters did stand-up was great, too.

Maher's incredibly good at skewering stuff that most left-wing comedians wouldn't. Black is great at bluntness, and his facial expressions are his defining element. Waters was just plain bad-ass.

Has anyone ever seen Eugene Mirman's standup? I saw his episode of Comedy Central Presents, and it was pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen. He also plays Eugene on Flight of the Conchords.
