Seconded for Code Geass R2. The first season ended on the most bullshit cliffhanger you have ever seen but R2 was perfect. The last several episodes were like watching an imminent trainwreck but at the last second it defies your expectations and flies perfectly into Good Ending Station.
Oh and going back a bit here, the ending for Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai was amazing, the first season was damn good too but due to plot reasons it needed the second season badly. I still love that anime, as dated as it looks now it still pulls off the cute and funny slice of life comedy sections as well as the creepy and downright disturbing scenes later. It's a mystery so i'm spoiling nothing but i'll say I wish Higurashi's spiritual successor Umineko No Naku Koro Ni had even half as good an anime adaptation as Higurashi did.
I've started the original game recently too, i'm shocked that there's no voice acting (unless it's all a clever ploy and they add it later for dramatic effect, it's 07th Expansion here so it's not 100% off the table) and it proves that the anime studio had their shit together to make the adaptation as good as possible. Early verdict here but the anime is probably going to be better for me, though I played all of Umineko first before starting to play Higurashi and Umineko is fucking sublime in every way possible so it's definitely unfair in comparison. Higurashi's lack of voice acting hit me harder than I thought it would too, Umineko's was just that good.
