Overall I like conventional arms that fire good ol' fashioned bullets. Overall though I prefer Shotguns, Accurate Assault Rifles and Pistols, especially magnums with appropriate damage capabilities.

Sniper rifle for me, i can camp it with the best of them if i feel the need too but tbh, i really loathe that.
Unless people are idiots enough to try and stand plain in the open to shoot back at me, then they outright deserve it.
Most of the time i'll run and gun with my sniper, keep on the move.

All else fails, i'll break out a shotgun and go "Evil dead" on everyone.
Win win imo.

swords, nothing beats a good beheading.

Perhaps the throwing axes from Rune, but only when you manage to take off your opponent's weapon arm. Good times

Rocket launcher. Notihng like slamming a guy into an explosive barrel and watching the sparks fly =D.

Also I like mechine guns, even if they usually ar'nt that strong, adds tension to a fight.

anything that doesnt kill in a hit or requires at least a bit of aim to one hit kill (cough* CoD4 M16 *cough)
type of gun for me - probably SMGs
good damage,accuracy and always reliable

also since when does everyone love shotguns? i hardly ever see shotgun users in any games
and another thing love thy camper if they dont move you know EXACTLY where to shoot, move between shots makes you less of a target

A really blunt rusty spoon...+ all the other mods to make your knife badass in CS:source like ever took someone down armed only with a kipper? or a guitar? other than that I agree against zombies shotty just feel good but I like the revolver magnum (especially the "I'm so cool to reload I just swing the chambers out and casually get ready for some sniper shotgun power") aslong as it's accurate and doesn't take the same time it takes to create the next episode of HL2 to fire the next shot (eh, Perfect Dark 2)

The ubiquitous assault rifle with combination grenade launcher. An oldie and a goldie, this one weapon design fulfills all your basic needs, from close range offense, to medium range massacre. True enough, you can't attack anything from long distance with this, but in lieu of that weakness, this combination negates a sniper rifles' two others: limited ammo capacity and slow firing rate. Anyone that's ever played an FPS knows that sniper rifles are not medium to close range weapons, and attempting to apply them as such usually ends in bloody death.

The assault rifle/grenade launcher is a basic weapon with nearly unlimited uses. Need to cover your retreat? Send up a wall of explosive fire before you, and make like a tree. Need to clear a hallway, or some charging enemies, and can't risk the moment of vulnerability hand tossing a grenade would cause, or that your enemies might run past it or dive for cover? Impact explosives again become your best friend. Need just basic fire support to clear some enemies out, a way to carve a path for yourself and not blow your fragile skeleton into powder? Enter the usually decent magazine size and speedy firing rate.

A combination of this type is very meat and potatoes, but also highly balanced. You can go from close to medium, from high powered offense to defense, to defeating cover and/or creating your own, from groupie killer to giant killer, all within the same gun, and usually all within the same two buttons or keys.

This style of weapon is far from being the most spectacular or flashy. It's certainly not as impressive as, say, the Spartan Laser or the Gravity Gun, but it's got broader applications for offense than either. I could be dropped into just about any FPS with just this type of gun, and probably play at least most of it, if not the entire thing, without needing anything else.

Look at it this way: Try to imagine a situation where this is the only type of gun in your inventory, and you're going "What a useless piece of shit, I might as well put it to my own head."

I'm sure there ARE such situations, but the harder you have to think to legitimately come up with one, the better it speaks for the weapon.

Best examples include: The assault rifle from Half-Life and Half-Life 2, and the SuperDragon from Perfect Dark.

Mine would be an assault rifle, with a single shot setting. Nothing better than a long -range head shot using the iron sights of a cod4 m16 or ak-47. 100 points if they come with a silencer. I love to surprise people in the last second. Next would be the lightsaber- I've always liked to cut stuff off.+ Lots of the melee stuff that condemned carries. Heh what can be more funnier than beating your friend to death with a shovel of all things???

I always like having a sniper rifle and a shotgun. If anyone comes close to my camping spot, I've got a good backup.

Gotta love the shotguns and sniper rifles in games. Something about the thrill of one-hit-killing someone from behind with the shotgun, or getting the guy from across the map, just fills my piss-weak heart with joy.

1) Katanas if they are offered.
2) Pistols if I want to just have fun. (Is it possible NOT to get a headshot with the one in multi-player Red Steel?)
3) Anything that fits with maniacal laughter. (BFG 9000, Sentenel on 007 Nightfire, Minigun...ect)

In Crysis I always have a shotty at hand.

In games like CoD4 I mainly use assault rifles. But I just can't resist being one of those pricks who sits in a corner sniping everyone :)
