Hmm... I don't think Mirror's Edge has been listed...

It is a little known game (well... in my experience it is) that I had a lot of fun with...

Does Second Sight count? It is pretty unheard of, I think. It is by the same team that made Time Splitters, except it is a Metal Gear Solid-esque stealth game, with one of the most surprising twists I have yet to find in a game.
It had a cool story but by god was the gameplay completely and utterly terrible.

The Path, by Tale Of Tales, a small indie studio. It's a take on the older translations of Little Red Riding Hood, stories that were much darker than the current versions. A "survival horror" that focuses less on "horror" and and more on deep, dark, disturbing themes. It uses a lot of grapical and aural themes that are quite unknown in most modern games, giving it a truly creepy feel.

Which path will you take? The path of needles, or the path of pins?

I liked Mirror's Edge, too. Mostly. Not sure it's unheard of (hey, Zero Punctuation covered it). I do think it could have stood a little polish, though. Combat was clunky, and forced far too often. Hit detection seemed more than a bit off-- maybe it's just me, but a lot of times wall runs and jumps seemed to fail for no apparent reason.

But when everything is clicking, you really do feel like you're gliding over rooftops like an Olympic gymnast who's taken up parkour. I guess that's why I got so frustrated with it, because I absolutely loved about 75% of the game, but screamed in frustration (and sore thumbs) from the rest. Mirror's Edge like the little girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead: when it was good, it was very very good, but when it was bad, it was horrid.

Indigo Prophecy. More of a movie than a game, and was made by the guys who brought us last years Heavy Rain.
Come on, everyone's heard of that game.
Really? Cause I have mentioned it to twenty people and the response is always "Is that the new emo band playing at the park this weekend?"

N64 (so, probably '90's but w/e) Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage.

Recently, Sacred 2.

Aside from that... Most good games anymore get attention. Thanks to the internet, I guess. Good examples would be Mount & Blade (an indie title if there ever was one) and Minecraft. Good, lesser-known games these days tend to go viral.

Yahtzee mentions it in at least 3 of his reviews. It was also featured in a recent Gameinformer that was talking about cult classics.

Locomotion, made by Chris Sawyer.(the creator of Transport Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon)
Its looks like a Transport Tycoon remake. It seems to have got rated bad, but i liked it. And Freelancer. I loved it! Space RPG with pew pew laser ship battles. It was the sequel to the little know Starlancer. The modding community is still going strong...Emperor: Battle For Dune was a good Strategy...

Whaaaa-? Well, I am on a website filled with gamers so lets go with something else. Halo is great and-shit! Everyone knows that one. Let's go with Breakdown. Totally first-person.

I have yet to read a single review of Heavy Rain that doesn't bring up Indigo Prophecy/Farenheit, and there aren't very many discussions of Heavy Rain on here that don't mention it either.

Tomba! [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomba!] 1 and 2. I don't know how obscure these games were elsewhere, but I know that they were basically unheard of around here when they came out (and still are today).

True, true (though, in my opinion, most stealth games have crap gameplay anyway). Of course, I have always been a story over gameplay type of person, so it did not have matter to me too much when I played the game.

Like I said, Quantic Dream made only two games-Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. They are pretty similar in execution, but totally different stories. Can't wait to get a PS3 to play Heavy Rain.
