hmmm well if we are talking video games: Rise of Nations, my first big pc game and first RTS my dad still plays it and it is an awesome game on the whole.

if we are talking about games in general then: Civilzation by avalon hill, a board game made during the 80s (i think) my dad and sister (of all people) play this and i highly recommend it if you can find a copy very fun great with like 5 people or so.

Probobly one of the best stories ever told in a video game

And its a story in a pokemon game. The only things that beat it in story for me are:
Bioshock
Mass Effect 1/2
Dead Space 1/2
Batman: AA

Armored core:For answer

Just picked it up one day from the bargain bin.
And it was fucking awesome, way better than any of the Modern warfare games.

Battle Zone

It was this great game, 1997-98 I believe, where you controlled a hover tank on Mars in the first person perspective. However, you were also tasked with building a base, making an army of tanks and then destroying the enemy base. Was actually a very interesting blend of FPS and base building, I definitely recommend trying it out.

Hammerfight. It's a very fun, very flawed little indie 2D game where you utilize the awesome power of physics to smash your enemies with a melee weapon of some type affixed to your flying machine.

I like it, but as I said, it's very flawed and could have used a lot of polishing.

Whiplash on the PS2.
Heard of it, never played it. How was it?
It was pretty good, I thought. Little bit buggy and kinda repetitive puzzle wise, and the humour kinda falls flat towards the end but it's still worth a play of you can find it. Should be cheap nowadays.

Wait, can I only list disc games?
If so, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. It's like Civilization, but with a splash of wookie in it. Very fun. Poor graphics though. ANother good one is Mechwarrior 2. I believe I had the titnanium edition. You are the controller of a mechanized robot. Your mission : Destroy all opposition. Ah, memories.
If not, GunZ the Duel. It was created over in Korea, and brought over here. It's a very fun free running shooter. You can climb up walls, run across them, roll all over the place, etc. It's got great original music too.

Nier is one I like to point out. I picked it up for a fiver just before New Year. Amazing plot, excellent chars (Although the main guy is kinda dull) and just an entirely enjoyable game for me.

Little King's Story is another that I got that kinda bombed. Loved it. Was just like Pikmin.

Republic commando for the original xbox. God I love that game. Whenever I mention it though,I sware that I can sense the ocean of "what" about to appear. I know alot of you guys haveplayed it, but in my perspective there ya go.
This.
Only thing is, I played it on the PC, not Xbox. Nonetheless. If they updated the graphics engine for it, so many people will buy it. It was an awesome game.

Ok ive done a quick search through and no-one has mentioned Arcanum! I think that proves how unknown it is. Made by trokia games who also made Vampire the Maskerade: Bloodlines. Just as amazingly open and unique with just as bad bug problem. If you like open RPGs like fallout arcanum makes them look linear

Also I didnt search for this one but "Ceville" is a suprising amount of fun with an awsome humour
Beat me to it, thank you. Arcanum is incredible. And incredibly buggy, but that can be fixed.

So, in lieu of that, Sacrifice. An incredible third-person RPG/RTS... thing.

Just play it. One of the best games ever made.
