Looking at all the different visions of hell you've seen over the years from movies, games and books which is your favourite for whatever reason, whether it because it's funny, horrifying or original. This isn't restricted to hell in the most tradition sense, it can simply be a torturous idea of the afterlife, or maybe a scene that clearly symbolises hell.

I bought this up because I saw Toy Story 3 the other day and it had absolutely one of the most horrifying hell scenes I've ever seen. In the final section of the Toy Story 3 the toys are thought a series of unfortunate events end up dumped in a landfill site. From there the Toys are pushed onto a conveyor belt leading towards blades that are crushing and mashing up the garbage. After getting though this without being harmed the toys find themselves being lead unstoppably towards an incinerator. They fall from the conveyor belt into a swirling pool of shredded rubbish with a huge column of fire at it's centre. The toys try to escape, but the rubbish is too steep and keeps falling away beneath their feet. Then, slowly, without a word to each, they take each others hands and stair hell in the face. They accept their fate.

I was traumatised. I was so devoted to these childhood characters it was like watching a family pet heading towards hell. I was in tears.

So, what's yours? Please us spoiler tags if necessary.

Well if we are reffering to places serving as a hell then I like the hell from Bill and Ted Bogus Adventrue.

If we are talking about hellish ways to live, I like Ripleys 'hell' where she constantly has nightmares because if you read some of them in the books they are really trippy.

Absolute darkness.

That is all. An eternity with nothing other than yourself. It will drive you mad.

I would say that my favourite version of "Hell" would be the void from Doctor Who.

I also personally love the images of hell from one of the first vertigo Sandman comics.

Great demon design, plus the idea that hell is ruled by what is basically a coalition government is a brilliant idea, or a possibly a premonition.

Doom 3
Not sure why this is in here, I'm sure you could predict a thing like you go to hell in a Doom game. Anyway, sections where the floor crumbles away to reveal firey oceans of blood below you, leaving someone in a train to fix the tracks to return and find them dismembered and hearing a spooky young female voice whispering a snippet of the Lord's Prayer. Welcome to Hell.

Are you sure? So not an 8ft x 8ft x 8ft snow-white room with nothing but a wooden chair bolted to the floor and a single, unbreakable, loud wall clock for all eternity?

I can't decide if my personal Hell would be something elegantly simple like that above, psychologically invasive like a Silent Hill scenario, or traditionally unpleasant like being locked in a coffin, lit on fire, and thrown into the sea to drown (but the fire doesn't go out somehow) over and over again forever.

If Hell is real and I'm deemed enough of a prick to go there (honestly, I think I'd suit Purgatory better), then it'd be one of those three.

Supernatural has my favourite version, if by that you mean "the place I'd least like to go".

First, every month is like 10 years. Every day you're viciously tortured, and when the next begin you're healed (probably removing any chance of building up a resistance to it). At every day's end you get the offer: do this to other souls, and you'll be let of. The end result of this is that people are turned in to demons.

My Hell? Here it is:

[spoiler/] It's the same message I got at the end of inception: The idea that I may lose grasp of "reality" as it is, even though I concede I might have been fooled all along, but to know something that every fiber of my being knows to be "true," and then lose it for an alternate reality, granted that I won't know the difference then, but that split-second transition will be perhaps the most excruciating thing I can personally experience.[/spoiler]

Gotta be the Hell my Business teacher told us about:
That where we are right now, according to everything he has seen, is Hell and we messed up when we were really alive. When we die here we just go unto the next level and so on forever.

The "Heroes in Hell" version - basically a place other than Heaven, where all the bad people go......and do bad things to each other because that's what they do. Kind of like Mogadishu on steroids.

I picture the old-fashoned lakes of fire, giant black citadels, pretty much the Plane Of Oblivion levels from Elder Scrolls 4 (i prefer this version because if a demon's anything, it's a traditionalist)

From the 1985 Musical of A Christmas Carol.

One of my favorite musicals and one of my favorite depictions of hell.

Also bonus points for letting him see their reaction to his death.
